Pallavi Singh of That Delhi Girl Blog is already well-known for her skincare and beauty recommendations through her very popular social media. She’s a doctor, an ex-epidemiologist who worked in the public health and pharma sector for a while before figuring out that fashion and beauty were her passions. She started blogging full time and that just started documenting her love and lifestyle on her blog and in turn her Instagram. We especially love her simple and fun Reels on beauty. We asked the lovely lady about her beauty process and here’s what we gathered. There are some nuggets and product recommendations that you will definitely love.

What’s your idea of beauty? Is there a definition you live by?

I think beauty is personal, it’s very subjective. I don’t think I have a set definition for it but I no longer believe that it lies in the eyes of beholder. In 2020, beauty is about finding beauty within yourself, being comfortable in your own skin and not letting run-of-the-mill beauty standards define you.

What is your daily skincare regime in the AM?

I start by washing my face with Innisfree Bija Face WashThen I follow it up with my sunscreen, the Avene 50 SPF Emulsion, followed by a Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser. I never skip sunscreen, even if I am indoors all day. Next, I apply my favourite lip balm, the Dior Lip Glow Hydrating Lip Balm Color-Awakening in Pink and an under eye serum, the Ordinary Caffeine Solution.

What kind of skin do you have and what extra care does it need?

I have extremely sensitive skin, it’s also oily and hormonal. Since I have PCOS for a good 17 years now, I am pretty prone to breakouts and acne. Plus hormonal pigmentation that comes and goes.

Supplements you are taking for good skin and hair?

For now I am not taking anything particularly for skin and hair but the usual multivitamins and omega supplements are always part of my regime.

Do you try any spot treatments or specialised products for your skin?

Yes, I use Mario Badescu Drying Lotion as a spot-healer, works great for me.

What is your makeup box filled with – talk us through some of the stars?

Eyes: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette for everyday eyes and Tarteist Pro ReMix for a glam look. For Mascara, the Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara and the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Brow products, most definitely the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil and the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade.

Lips: I buy a lot of Kylie Cosmetics Lipsticks. I also love YSL lipsticks, the texture is beautiful- my all time favourite pink is the YSL Rouge Pur Couture 19. I love Estée Lauder lipsticks too especially the Pure Colour Envy and the Pure Colour Love Range. And of course, I never go anywhere without my the Dior Lip Maximizer. For budget and everyday wear, I love the NYX Lip Powder Puff Lipsticks

Face: Depends on the coverage I want. So my favourites would be Armani Silk (For light coverage), Chanel Le Teint or Dior Forever (For medium coverage) and Estée Lauder Double Wear (For full coverage). For concealers, I love NARS Creamy Concealer (very underrated, you must try). Primers, I love Estée Lauder’s Mattifier Primer  and Smashbox’s Photo FinishI am particularly obsessed with NARS and Tarte for blushes. In NARS my go to is Torrid or Orgasm, and my Tarte favourites are Dollface  and PartyHighlighters, hands down Fenty Beauty. I also love Bobbi Brown and Becca. I never go out without my trusted Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder and I always finish up with the Urban Decay All Night Setting Spray

Lipsticks: what are your favourite shades?

It’s a long list: Fenty Uncuffed, Kylie’s Candy K and Mary Jo, Estée Lauder Pure Colour Love 400, Armani Rouge Matte 400 and Lip Maestro 501, Dior Liquid Lipstick 808, Bobbi Brown Soft Rose, The Beauty Crop’s Imma Bawse.

What is your PM skincare routine like?

My PM routine starts with Clinique Take The Day Off Balm if I have any makeup on and then a good face wash, The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser. Then I use my Foreo Luna 2 at least 4-5 days in a week with a face wash. After that I use Paula’s Choice 2% Liquid Exfoliant as a toner, 5 days a week. Then I apply my Estée Lauder ANR Serum. I also use a few drops of Niod Re:pigment on pigmented areas of my cheeks. I use Kiehls Avocado Night Cream or the Estée Lauder ANR eye corrector (sometimes alternatively) for my under eye. For my lips I use the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I also use the Indulgeo Brow Grow and keep it overnight. I use a face scrub sometimes three times a week, the Biotique Walnut Scrub

What about your wellness routine – is there a process you follow?

I try to workout 5/6 days a week, and eat healthy and home cooked as much as I can. I try not to go overboard with alcohol or cocktails. I don’t smoke and stay hydrated.

What are the pampering sheet masks/ facial masks you use?

I am more of a clay mask person than sheet masks. I absolutely love Himalaya Neem Pack and Glamglow Supermud Mask.

A very “extra” product you have in your kitty that everyone must try?

I think the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturisers are great if you want to skip the makeup yet not go completely bare face. The Glamglow Glow Starter Moisturiser is a good moisturiser to wear under makeup if you want that natural looking glow.

Haircare routine you follow?

I wash my hair three times a week. The night before, I either use the Kerastase Hair Night Serum or Mantra Almond Oil. For shampoo and conditioner/mask, I prefer Kerastase products again. Moroccan oil or Kerastase Elixir Ultime

Travel products you love and carry?

My sunscreen, lip balm, face wash, Clinique Take The Day Off Balm Wipes and face mists by Mario Badescu or Kama Ayurveda

Any beauty DIYs you follow?

To be honest I am usually lazy for it but for hair it’s either an egg mask (egg white) or beer for that extra shine or conditioning or a curd mask for dry scalp or dandruff issues if I have any. For the face, chickpea flour and curd mask or grated potato mask, grated tomato mask or just ice cubes.

What is your most extravagant purchase in beauty?

If we are talking about just beauty I think the Foreo Luna 2 device is the most expensive item I have in my beauty/skin care kit.

Who is your facialist – any regular facials you get done?

I actually don’t get any facials done of any sort. I have an extremely sensitive skin and I have always ended up with some side effects. Now I have stopped trying any!
