Our brands

Being a beauty editor means two things. One, I get a ton of amazing products to review on a daily basis and two, one’s routine gets uprooted because you are always trying out new things. LSA Beauty Drop is a series where we carefully review our choices, use and reuse a product just to see how it works on Indian skin, so you can take a leaf out of our book.

    Glitter Mask

Glitter belongs in the makeup bag and at kiddie birthday parties, right? Wrong. But what if we told you that skincare can have glitter too? And more importantly that you need not spend more than Rs 2,000 to reap its fun, Insta-worthy benefits?

We have all heard of the Glamglow Glitter Mask, which had every beauty blogger obsessed last year. Now, meet its affordable counterpart from homegrown label, The Beauty Co. The masks come in four flavours and colours: Mix Berries Glitter Glow Mask; Lavender and Chamomile Glitter Glow Mask; Green Tea & Aloe Vera Glitter Glow Mask; and the Charcoal Glitter Glow Mask. We hadn’t heard about it anywhere, so we were curious to try it out. And we dipped right in.

    Glitter Mask

    The trial

These are peel-off masks and their aim is to cleanse the skin of grease and grime. We can vouch for all of them giving your skin a smoother, more silky feel right after they are peeled off. What stood out for us though was the fact that these masks come jam-packed with fun, organic ingredients. The charcoal in The Beauty Co. Glow Charcoal Mask extracts dirt and brightens your skin – one reason why we think why it should be in your beauty bag. Other versions include pure berries extracts and Vitamin C & K, which help repair sun-damaged skin.

Apart from making the skin relax, the masks also detoxify, unclog pores, and reduces dark spots. The Green Tea and Aloe mask cools and soothes, works on acne, and reduces sun-tan, age spots, fine lines along with firming saggy skin.

    The texture

The texture across the board is the same – a gel-based mask that looks like thickened glue. It’s quite gooey and can take upwards of 20 minutes to form a layer that is worthy of peeling off. Then too, it took us a while to remove them completely. It’s a no-mess formula and left no real residue – that means effortless application, perfect to carry on your travels.

    Verdict

Is it a mask worthy of your time? Yes. Because it provides instant relief. The Lavender – Chamomile one is truly relaxing, and the Vitamin C mask with mixed berries, though stung a little, gave us smoother skin afterwards. The green tea flavoured mask had a fresh, easy scent, almost like an aqua feel. After a long working day, we’ll admit we enjoyed their soothing effect. There were no post masking breakouts or irritation.

Use the masks to get skin that is plump and hydrated, but don’t expect a dramatic glow that can only come with acids and heavier ingredients. These are ones you reach out to when you want quick results. A little fixer-upper with plenty of sparkle.

Priced between Rs 750 – Rs 850, the masks can be used 2-3 times a week, and last at least a month or two.
