Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Priyanka Chopra, Rakul Preet Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Yami Gautam, and several other Bollywood biggies all share one thing in common – hairstylist Priyanka Borkar. Trained as a hairdresser at Vidal Sassoon (UK) and at Kevin Fortune Hairstyling Academy (UK), Borkar also honed her skills at celebrity-favourite hair salon, Kromakay in Mumbai for almost a decade before paving her own creative path.
Priyanka Chopra’s hairstylist for her wedding. Borkar’s popularity stems from the way she straddles international trends with Indian aesthetics, managing to stay on top of the game with interesting ideas. One look at her Instagram page and you’ll know why she’s on Bollywood’s speed dial – her feed is teeming with new-age, trendy, never-seen-before hairstyles.
Sporting colourful hair and braids herself, Borkar spoke to Lifestyle Asia India about her hair recommendations and beauty routine.
Daily skincare regime in the morning
In the morning, I usually use the Etude Baking Powder Face Wash and top it up with a Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic toner (a real glow-getter). I am not loyal to one moisturiser – I am at the moment oscillating between Clinique Moisture Surge and Shiseido Waso Moisturiser because my skin is usually super dry and both these add moisture and keep it radiant. After a moisturiser, it’s the Clinique Sunscreen that keeps me going. I also am a big fan of the Innisfree Jeju Orchid Eye Cream – it makes the eye area smoother and younger.
Hair and skin supplements
GNC Biotin pills really work.
Makeup I use
I’m playing around and trying too many products these days, but I do have a few favourites I swear by – the Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow that gives a dewy, luminous finish; the Laura Mercier Foundation, and Translucent Powder are really good for Indian skin. Recently, I got my hands on Milk Makeup, which is a vegan makeup brand that really blew me away. Each product makes you glow.
The stars of your makeup box?
- For the Eyes: M.A.C Cosmetics eyeshadows are so pigmented.
- For the Lips: Any hydrating lip balm and a lot of cream-based lipsticks. Innisfree has some great tinted lip balms, and Pixi’s lip glosses are so pigmented and great.
- For the Face: Anything by Laura Mercier and Charlotte Tilbury. I swear by the Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic toner. And the Urban Decay Makeup All-Nighter Fixing Spray is a godsend.
- Blushes: Any cream blush, they add a glow. Milk blushes are very good. My all-time favourite product is the Makeup Forever Cream Blush Palette.
- Highlighters: Huda Beauty 3D Highlighter Palette and any M.A.C Cosmetics Extra Dimension Skinfinish Highlighter

Travel products you love and carry?
Sheet masks brought from Korea are my favourite for long flights along with Innisfree tinted lip balms.
Nightly skincare routine?
At night, the first thing I do is take my makeup off with a good cleansing oil. I wash my face with a Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliator, and finish up with the very popular, Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate.
Haircare routine I follow
Everyone knows me as the girl who loves to colour her hair. With colour comes extra care so I do treat my hair to an Olaplex treatment every other week and follow it up with a head massage with oil. I also use a nourishing shampoo and conditioner made for coloured hair.
The OPI Cuticle Oil is a staple in my kitty because it provides that extra care to the nails.
