Our brands

We are officially done with the summer months but we are still holding on to the season’s décor trends. From natural materials adding loads of texture to splashes of solid hues, florals and tropical prints to the romance of soft sheers and flowy fabrics – we are finding it hard to let go. So instead of completely moving on to the next season, we’ve picked a few summer décor ideas for your home we think work in any season.

Go in for a light canvas

Light colours are big when it comes to summer décor ideas and make any room look open, bigger and less stuffy. With our sweltering Indian summers, we need all the help we can get and lighter shades reflect heat while darker ones absorb it. Look to creamy whites, cool greys, blush pinks and neutral nudes as your base which also creates the perfect canvas for any small changes you might want to make without having to change the entire décor of the room. Light colours also have a calming effect which is perfect all year. Look at walls, flooring and big pieces of furniture like sofa sets as items for your base canvas.

If you’re looking to revive the room with a fresh coat of paint, shades like Asian Paints Soothing Silk (9531) make a wonderful calming backdrop.

Add splashes of colour and prints

A neutral canvas needs to be elevated by colour and prints so uplift the room with pops of colour through throw pillows, artwork, curios and feature walls. Bold splashes of shades like sea blue, sunny yellow, fiery orange, deep purple or blood red can energise and needn’t be restricted only to summer months. Interesting Indian motifs, tropical-inspired patterns like leaves or cheery florals are a great way to bring colour and visual interest year-round.

Soft furnishings in fabrics like khadi, linen and cotton work really well both in summer months and all year. They are also durable and easy to clean. Items like flowy or sheer curtains add a softness to the décor. A side tip, if you want to give the illusion of higher ceilings which helps open up a room, use floor length curtains even for windows. Alternatively, raise the curtain rod closer to the ceiling; it draws the eye upwards and elongates the effect.

Let natural textures take centre stage

A big summer décor trend is to infuse your space with natural materials like bamboo, cane, cork, solid wood, terracotta, marble, stone, and rattan, among others. We feel this trend shouldn’t be limited to just this season. Natural materials lend visual and tactile texture, as such, they also work really well for those neutral items like sofas, counter tops, floors and walls. If you take proper care, these materials can last a lifetime and impart a timeless appeal to any room. Finally, these materials are eco-friendly and sustainable.

Keep your rug mellow

We love how an area rug can anchor the entire décor. While some say the summer is for bare floors, we love the neutral or muted carpet trend. If you’ve got a floor or flooring design that you are not particularly fond of, a large rug or wall to wall carpeting can cover those up with ease. Area rugs also work to visually demarcate different zones without burdening the layout with extra pieces of furniture.
