While we are home sulking about the doom of 2020, WHO has planned something to cheer us up. You can be part of WHO’s One World: Together At Home concert on April 18, 2020.
Last week, the World Health Organisation announced a benefit concert to raise funds in support of the health care workers amid COVID-19. A first of its kind, this home concert is a collaboration between Global Citizen, the organisation behind the Together At Home videos, and WHO.
Priyanka Chopra, who is currently in Los Angeles with husband Nick Jonas, took to Instagram to make the announcement, “We’ll be honouring healthcare and front line essential community workers through music and celebration at home.”
The event will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Kimmel. Alongside the at-home entertainment, the concert will also talk about the experiences of doctors, nurses, and families around the world that are involved in this global fight.
“The World Health Organization is committed to defeating the coronavirus pandemic with science and public health measures, and supporting the health workers who are on the frontlines of the response,” Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of WHO revealed on the organisation’s official website. “We may have to be apart physically for a while, but we can still come together virtually to enjoy great music. The ‘One World: Together At Home’ concert represents a powerful show of solidarity against a common threat.”
