This week is a mix of OTT and theatrical releases, which are all big releases. So, in case you are looking for things to do this weekend, we have the perfect list for you. From a sports bopic, to a crime thriller and regional content, the wekeend is packed with exciting watches. So gear up as we bring to you all the new releases that you can watch this week.

New releases to watch this week

Shabaash Mithu

Taapsee Pannu’s sports biopic on Indian cricketer Mithali Raj is just the movie and representation womens’ sports needs in India. While the trailer gives off Chak De India vibes, with womens’ sports being looked down upon, this is the story of the sad reality in India. Mithali is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket and is considered to be one of the greatest female cricketers ever and that is a story that needs to be told. Directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Viacom18 Studios, the film is releasing in theatres this weekend.

Hit – The First Case

Bringing together Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, two of the finest actors of this generation is this crime and action thriller. This is the Hindi remake of the Telugu cop drama, starring Bhanu Kumar, Rohan Singh among others. The movie chronicles a police officer in the homicide intervention team who has to overcome his struggles with his tragic past in order to investigate a case involving a missing woman. Meanwhile, his wife goes missing and he must look for her as well. Watch this new release at a theatre near you.

Judaa Hoke Bhi

Another theatrical release on the list of new releases this weekend, before we move on to OTT releases. A romantic-horror film written and directed by Vikram Bhatt and produced by Loneranger Productions and Houseful Motion Pictures, this is your recommendation if you are looking for some spine-chilling scary movie this weekend. The film features Akshay Oberoi and Aindrita Ray in lead roles and Meherzan Mazda in supporting role. The movie tells us the story of Aman Khanna, who was once a successful singer, and now is drowning his life into alcohol, despair and self- destruction after losing his son to an accident.

Jaadugar

Coming to OTT releases, this week, your favourite OTT star Jitendra Kumar, aka Jeetu, is coming to Netflix as a lovesick magician-turned-footballer. In this movie, Jeetu is a musician with no athletic talent, but now has to prove his worth to the woman he loves by winning a football match. The film also stars Jaaved Jaaferi as his coach and Arushi Sharma as his love interest. The Netflix original is directed by Sameer Saxena and written by Biswapati Sarkar, and will stream this weekend.

Maa Neela Tank

A Zee5 original series, this Telugu comedy series is produced by Praveen Kolla and features Sushanth in the lead, which also marks his OTT debut. Directed by Lakshmi Soujanya, the series also stars Priya Anandh, Sudarshan, Nirosha, Prem Sagar, Rama Raju and Annapurnamma.
