The Mirzapur 2 trailer is here. And here’s what the cast has to say about one of the most anticipated Indian web series finally returning to our screens.
Back in August, Amazon Prime Video had announced that the second season will hit the screens on October 23. With the release only two weeks away, the Mirzapur 2 trailer is now out, and here’s all that happened at the launch.
Mirzapur Season 2 trailer breakdown –
“Ab humko badla bhi lena hai, aur Mirzapur bhi,” says Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) in the backdrop of a burning building. The new season is all about revenge, with Guddu out to get justice for Bablu Pandit (Vikrant Masse) and Sweety Gupta (Shriya Pilgaonkar), his brother and wife who were killed in the first season. Shweta Tripathi, who reprises her role as Gajgamini Gupta aka Golu, is less mellow and more action-forward in the new season. “We don’t see many women on screen holding guns, so I wanted to do it well. I rehearsed relentlessly because using body doubles could compromise the authenticity of the scene. Action is like choreography; every step has to be planned and there is no room for improvisation because you are not only responsible for yourself but also for those around you,” Tripathi said.
There is a new character, Dadda Tyagi, who adds to the tug of war when it comes to holding power over Mirzapur. Continued to be involved in this war are Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and Munna (Divyendu Sharma), the former with his quiet chess-like planning and the latter with his reckless, jump-the-gun ways. Kaleen Bhaiya’s wife, Beena (Rasika Dugal) too seems to have a bigger role in this game of power.
A scene has Guddu torturing a man by using a blow drier in his face; another shows teeth being plucked from bleeding gums; guns, revenge, and more brutal violence than the first season is promised in the Mirzapur 2 trailer.

Mirzapur: The story so far –
The first season came in November 2018, so it’s been nearly a two-year-wait for the fans. An Anurag Kashyap-esque gangster drama, it came replete with gunshots, blood and gore, and abuses used as punctuation. With this being a refreshing cocktail to watch, without any interference from the censors, this Amazon production rode high on performances. Pankaj Tripathi, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rasika Dugal, Vikrant Massey, Ali Fazal — each actor hit the nail (or gunshot) on the head. While the storyline may have been predictable at times, crisp dialogues and screenplay made it a thrilling ride to be on nonetheless.
Season 1 had Kaleen Bhaiya, a carpet exporter and local don. While his son Munna is hungry to get his hands on his family’s empire, he hits a roadblock with his father’s support for two brothers working under him–Guddu and Bablu Pandit. Sweety and Golu are sisters, and the former gets married to Guddu in the series.
Beena is married to Kaleen Bhaiya and her journey of repression and possible personal uprising as hinted in the last scenes when she picks up a gun. The finale also showed Sweety and Bablu being killed at a wedding hijacked by Munna, and a likely emergence of violence in the otherwise non-violent characters until then. Mirzapur Season 2 will follow from that, and we can surely expect more gunshots and grit from this series that minces no words–or scenes.
