If you’re a Srikant Tiwari fan, then June 4 is the date you need to bookmark now. The Family Man Season 2 is releasing this Friday, but before that, here’s a quick The Family Man Season 1 recap.
Two years ago, Manoj Bajpai made his OTT debut with The Family Man on Amazon Prime, and little did we know that his versatility is a gift that keeps on giving. The series blew up the viral ratings and ended up becoming one of our favourite binge-watch series. After the success of Season 1, we finally have The Family Man Season 2, releasing on June 4, 2021. But before we add it to our watch-list, here’s everything you need to know about The Family Man Season 1.
A riveting action-drama, the series follows the life of Srikrant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee), a typical middle-class man who leads an undercover life as a government agent. Working with a National Investigation Agency special cell, the 10-episode series tracks him flitting between the agent role and the family man role—protecting the country from terrorists by day and being the unassuming husband and father at night. A sharp storyline interspersed with comic moments and on-point acting is what you’ll find here.
One of the core reasons behind the success of Season 1 is the layering of different phases in Tiwari’s life. On one hand, we see Tiwari as a doting father who is always loving and protecting the family from adversities; on the other hand, he is shown hard at work, fighting off criminals to protect the citizens of his country. These subplots make for an interesting story, good enough to keep us hooked. However, these personal and professional challenges end the season on a cliffhanger, further steering our anticipation for Season 2.
Directed and produced by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., who also co-wrote the story and screenplay with Suman Kumar, The Family Man Season 1 bagged multiple awards, including Best Actor (Critics) for Manoj Bajpayee, Best Actress (Critics) for Priyamani, Best Series (Critics), Best Director (Critics), and Best Dialogues at the Filmfare OTT Awards.
The series also starred Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar, Neeraj Madhav, Sharib Hashmi, Dalip Tahil, Sunny Hinduja and Shreya Dhanwanthary.
