The annual Star Wars Day is here. And here’s how the world is celebrating it amid the coronavirus lockdown, and so can you. May the 4th be with you, indeed.
Conventions and meet-ups are out of the question this time around. However, that doesn’t mean that you don’t get to say and celebrate ‘May the 4th be with you’ today as much as you would in any non-coronavirus year. The space-opera saga has continued to top worldwide popularity charity charts for over 40 years now, and there’s no stopping its fans in living it up, which is a play on the iconic line from the series, ‘May the force be with you’.
First off, start your day with a recap of the saga. Disney+ Hotstar is now streaming the entire Skywalker saga, consisting of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, ‘The Last Jedi’, ‘The Force Awakens’, ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’, ‘The Empire Strikes Back’, ‘Return of the Jedi’, ‘Revenge of the Sith’, ‘Attack of the Clones’, and ‘The Phantom Menace’. So, you’ve got all the nine films in one place, and it couldn’t get easier to dial up the nostalgia.
Then there’s the New York Comic Con which is conducting a virtual commemoration of May the 4th be with you. Hosted by ReedPop, this two-day event will not only celebrate today but also the following day–‘Revenge of the fifth’, a play on the film title ‘Revenge of the Sith’. They will have Q&A sessions with the writers and voice over artists of the franchise, as well as tweeting the Star Wars films and episodes.
They’ve also organised quizzes based on the series trivia, giveaways, and more. All this will be hosted across the NY Comic Con and ReedPop’s other ventures–C2E2, BookCon, Emerald City Comic Con, and Florida SuperCon. Don’t let the lockdown stop you from being the fan. Go ahead and celebrate the Star Wars day just as you would, only digitally!
