If you’re not planning to cure a bad hangover on January 1, 2021, then book your tickets and watch Ramprasad ki Tehrvi in theatres. An ensemble cast of Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vinay Pathak, Supriya Pathak, Vikrant Massey, and Vineet Kumar come together to put the ‘fun’ in funeral.

Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi

Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi comes at the right time when we all need to start embracing the weight of good times over the bad. The quirky tale celebrates the joys of coming together even after losing your loved ones and appreciating what we have at the moment.

The comedy-drama revolves around the middle-class Bhargava family that comes together for 13 days to perform a Tehrvi function (final ceremony for the departed in Hinduism, and sometimes Sikhs) after the head of their family passes away. During the ceremony, the family’s dynamics, politics, and insecurities come out, and they realise that the importance of people and things are only evident in retrospect.

Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi

Ramprasad ki Tehrvi movie cast —

While the storyline in itself sets the pace for a fun experience, the joy of the movie really lies in its talented ensemble cast. The head of the family is played by Naseeruddin Shah, who passes away, and all his six children come home for the ceremony. But instead of dealing with the sorrow of his death, other emotions begin to brew among the children. Their mother, played by Supriya Pathak, is an astonished spectator. Balancing traditions, obligations, and family finances, the widowed mother realises the intricacies of her husband’s philosophies of life and wants to pass on those values to the world.

Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi has a solid cast with the OG players of comedy and humour in the Indian film industry, increasing our expectations further. There is the versatile Vinay Pathak, Manoj Pahwa (of Office Office fame), Parambrata Chattopadhyay (of Kahaani), Konkona Sen Sharma, and more.

The movie also marks the directorial debut of veteran film, television, and theatre actress Seema Pahwa who was last seen in Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari (2020) opposite Diljit Dosanjh and Manoj Bajpai. And its production credits goes to Manish Mundra who is known for working on hit films such as Newton (2017), Masaan (2015), and Ankhon Dekhi (2014), among others.
