A Simple Murder: Story –
A Simple Murder sinks its teeth into this zeitgeist — it’s a comedy with the underlying message that life’s nothing but a big joke, no matter how hard you fight its adversities. Coincidences collide with a capers and crime in this series that is set in Delhi. The story zooms in on the life of Manish (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, last seen in Chhalaang) who puts the L in loser with his endless episodes of failures. Unable to make money and satisfy his wife Richa (Priya Anand), who wants nothing more than moolah on her bed instead of a duvet, Manish finds himself in the middle of an unimaginable mess.
Manish’s noose is tightened by Pandit (Yashpal Sharma) who gives him ‘assignments’, in exchange for money, of course. But, as we discover, the money at the end of the game is not even with Manish, but with Rahul (Ayaz Khan). Rahul who? Richa’s lover. And to add injury to insult is the police (played by Gopal Datt and Vikram Kocchar).
The SonyLiv web-series is directed by Sachin Pathak, who has previously received accolades for movies such as Drishyam (2015), Rocky Handsome (2016), and Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008). The cast also features Sushant Singh and Amit Sial, among others.
The chaos will definitely deliver some laughs but in vignettes. Though it’s for the cast that one must add this to their watch-list this weekend.
