Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey come together for a mystery thriller, Haseen Dillruba, on Netflix. The movie releases today, and here’s why you need to add it to your must-watch list this weekend.
Netflix’s Haseen Dillruba story and movie cast —
Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, and Harshvardhan Rane blur the fine line between passion and obsession in this marital mystery that oozes all elements of a good marriage gone bad. Based on the first impression of the trailer, Pannu is an enchantress in a small town in Haridwar looking for a husband who is good looking, has a sense of humour and is amative. Enter Vikrant Massey, whose boringly sweet disposition undergoes a character transformation in the film. Their simple yet solid love story is right on the money on paper, but behind the scenes, a parallel story is brewing, triggering an introspective series of events. Rane’s sudden appearance and relationship snippets with Pannu’s character adds a new perspective to the story.
Directed by Vinil Mathew and written by Kanika Dhillon (of Manmarziyaan, Guilty, Judgementall Hai Kya), Haseen Dillruba is more than a flat murder mystery or a mystery love triangle. The packaging is essentially that of a psychological thriller with a femme fatale (as the trailer exhibits) that challenges us to demystify the role of Rani Kashyap (Pannu) in the film. However, we can’t say for sure until we stream it on Netflix whether it’s a femme fatale that’s breaking away from a toxic relationship or a damsel in distress avenging her rights in a wrong marriage. And that’s why Haseen Dillruba has been on our much-anticipated watch-list this month — a good murder mystery with a female lead.
The film also stars Aditya Srivastava (of C.I.D. fame) as Inspector Kishore Rawat. And it is produced by Aanand L. Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner Colour Yellow Productions, T-Series, and Eros International.
