The new web series on SonyLiv, ‘Undekhi’ releases on July 10. Inspired by real-life events, here’s why it should be on your weekend watchlist.
The premise that the rich and powerful have the privilege of getting away with just about anything has been captured on screen aplenty, a large part of these movies inspired by true events. But in a world today, where cultural and social mores are rapidly changing, ‘Undekhi’, the new series by SonyLiv, takes up the next the big question — to which extent can influence overpower justice?
Real story of Undekhi series
Inspired by a true story, the web series revolves around a powerful businessman killing a female dancer at a wedding function when she ignores his advances. The shooting is witnessed by all, yet none come forward to speak the truth. The only remaining evidence is on the camera of a journalist who was in attendance. His casual capture of the party takes a serious turn as the rolling camera turns towards the sound of the gunshot.
The makers haven’t mentioned which particular incident the series is based on, probably because there have been several such incidents in the country in the past.
The story follows the journalist’s journey of deciding what to do — fleeing or fighting. Because the killer is determined to avert justice at any cost.
‘Undekhi’ stars popular faces like Harsh Chhaya, known for roles in ’24’, ‘Jolly LLB’, ‘Mithya’, ‘Bheja Fry’, and many more. And Dibyendu Bhattacharya who’s been seen in ‘Dev. D’, ‘Black Friday’, ‘Lootera’, ‘Pari’, amongst others. So one can expect good acting out of the series, and the storyline seems like something that hits home, making it a web series to explore this weekend.
