5 good reasons why Asilo is the place to party in 2019

It’s not easy being the busy Mumbaiite because after-work bars and party places aren’t what they used to be. With longer lines, 14-year-old party goers and rehashed menus, Mumbai was almost looking for some respite and a breath of fresh air last year. Soon, it was 2019 and change came in with Aer hosting a bunch of interesting soirees and then the trend of rooftop bars is back again. Joining the party game is Asilo, the newly reopened chic rooftop bar with a breathtaking, panoramic view of the maximum city. Luxe and lavish, this is one spot that serves up some exciting cocktails and great music to go along with the vibe. As the doors opened on the 5th of Feb, we couldn’t help but look at all the good reasons why Asilo will be the biggest party place in Mumbai this year.

Asilo Mumbai

Asilo is Spanish for “Haven” and true to it’s name, the open to the sky sanctuary overlooks Mumbai city from the 40th floor of St.Regis. That means, plush seating, luxe ambience and outdoor drinks all with a view to kill for.

The All-white decor has always been the main staple of Asilo over the years and that still makes the bar look chic and understated as you sashay away in fashion’s finest. In fact, it’s the only place in the city with an all-white decor. Santorini vibes anyone?

The bar comes with five private dining lounges that you can use to have your own personal gig and dance. The food and cocktails will be served to your liking and there’s just lots of privacy for a sanctuary of your own.

The best cocktails according to us: The Melon Spiced Martini that comes together with Tanqueray, spicy ginger and lemongrass. The Golden Apple Cascade that contains fresh green apple and caramel with cloves shaken with Johnny Walker gold label whiskey. The Asian Spice cocktail is a revelation with Ketel One Vodka, fresh ginger, red chillies, chopped cucumber and mint – this one gives you just the right amount of punch. The Louis Roederer Kristal is smooth while the wine list is astounding with Ports from Taylors Portugal to French wines like Chablis Premier.

If you thought it’s just the cocktails, you are wrong. The food at Asilo pairs so well with their South African and New Zealand wines. The Portobello Truffle and Manchego bites are perfect while Suya Spiced Chicken Slides work well with the spicier drinks. The lighter fare begins with Burrata that comes with baby rocket leaves and basil emulsion crostini alongside Ratatouille and hazelnut Gouda bar.
