The lockdown hasn’t been easy on anyone. But as the regulations gradually ease up, another welcome move is the delivery of DIY cocktail kits.

If you’ve been missing heading out on weekends and sipping your go-to cocktail at your favourite restaurant, there’s some relief. Restaurants are gradually starting to deliver DIY cocktail kits to your doorstep. This means that they’ll send you a premix of the cocktail of your choice and all you have to do is add alcohol to it, and voila–sip the drink you’ve been waiting on for months!

A select few restaurants have started this service, such as Masque in Mumbai. They’ve got two premixes on their menu, which can be ordered through Swiggy, Scootsy, or by calling on +91 9819069222. Try the Smoked Limeter, which comprises of smoked sweet lime cordial or the Terra, which is turmeric, ginger, and honey cordial. Both the DIY cocktail kits come with tonic water and make two servings.

Then there’s Fig & Maple in Delhi, they’ve bottled their most popular cocktails to be available for delivery. You have a choice among watermelon, lychee, or elderflower flavours. And you’ll receive a kit that includes four servings and a vegetarian or non-vegetarian bar snack of your choice. You can message them on Instagram to place orders.

Two of the most loved restaurants in both these cities, Perch and Social, are also doing DIY cocktail kits now. The famous Driller from Social can be enjoyed in the confines of your home now. Mango juice, basil syrup, and lime juice will be sent along with the non-alcoholic Hoegaarden beer. They’re also doing In-Cider Juice, the cider-based cocktail, accompanied by non-alcoholic Budweiser beer. However, you can make it alcoholic with your own beer, and chill with the perfect summer drinks. While they’re only operating the Mumbai outlets currently (order through Swiggy and Scootsy), we expect other cities to begin deliveries soon.

Perch is delivering five DIY cocktail kits in both cities, including their insanely famous Eldertree (cucumber and elderflower spritzer). There’s also Basil Shrub with watermelon and basil shrub and tonic–they recommend making it with vodka. You’ve got the Spiced Pomegranate with ginger, honey/ginger ale; Coffee Sangria with coffee orange syrup and orange juice concoction, and goes nicely with red wine. And lastly, they’ve got Melon Sangria which has fruits soaked for 72 hours and white wine reduction–and of course, goes well with white wine. You can order by calling them at +91 85888 89199.

With the new normal meaning that dining out is not an option for times to come, DIY kits are a godsend. Sit back and relish your favourite one through your next binge watch.
