Our brands

As summer follows winter, convertibles follow coupes. Considering that Vantage made its debut two years ago, we were left wondering what took the British marque so long to bring out a roadster? But it’s finally here, the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster, in all its glory and ready for V8-powered summer sprints.

Gaydon’s luxe sports car gets a clean trim and looses its roof for the summer. With the new Aston Martin Vantage breaking cover, the brand is expecting it to cover 40% of sales, at least in its street-legal sportscar division. Which begs the question, why wasn’t it here sooner?

Aston Martin Vantage

The Aston Martin Vantage was already perfect, which left them with no need to make any grave changes when redesigning it as a convertible. The mighty bonnet with two air grilles on each side and a classic Vantage face. Under the hood, we’re met with the same guzzler as well, fine tuned a for safer open-air cruising.

The Vantage uses a cool 4.0-liter AMG-sourced V-8 as in the regular Vantage producing 503 hp and 505 lb-ft of torque. All of this power is sent to the rear yet clutched by an 8-speed automatic. Aston claims a 3.7-second zero-to-60-mph time, two tenths of a second slower than the one it claims for the coupe. If you floor the pedal, you’ll reach about 190-mph. However, that’s a dare only for the extreme, especially with the roof down.

As the hard roof comes off, the fabric roof uses what is described as a power operated “Z-fold” mechanism, stowing elegantly behind the rear seats when lowered, without the need for a separate tonneau cover. That simplicity makes it quick as it takes just 6.7 seconds to lower the roof and 6.8 seconds to raise it, which is the most impressive the industry is seeing today.

The Aston Martin Vantage will be in showrooms by mid-summer of 2021. Aston haven’t told us how much it would cost in India, but it’s said to be about $160,000 (Rs. 1.14 crore approx.) in the States. But, considering the Vantage Coupe is currently priced at Rs 2.95 crore, we should expect the new Roadster to be at par with that. Moreover, we’re expecting Aston to debut something exciting as the new James Bond film hits theaters.
