The Skoda Kushaq, one of the most anticipated cars of the year, breaks cover in India. Also, it marks 20 years of the Czech brand in the country.
There’s a lot going on with the Kushaq. Apart from marking its double-decker birthday in India, it also dawns a new beginning of the brand. We first got a glimpse of the car last year, but with a different name – The Vision IN. As part of VW’s ‘India 2.0’ campaign, the Skoda Kushaq comes forth as a silhouette designed in India, for India, yet with global appeal. For those of you wondering, the word ‘Kushaq’ derives from the ancient Indian language – Sanskrit. It actually translates to ‘king’ or ’emperor’. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Skoda Kushaq.

Lets start off with the optics. Evidently, the Kushaq is sporty and handsome. It surely makes it mark and it does it in style. It gets Skoda’s signature ribbed grille with a crystal outline. The LED headlights too come with a rather, aggressive design. In terms of dimensions, it measures a ground clearance of 188-mm and a wheelbase of 2651-mm. While that’s what you get outside, the cabin tells a different story. With a vast space, back and front, the focus stays on the massive 10-inch infotainment panel. More so, in terms of cabin tech, you can expect ventilated front seats, a sub woofer, wireless charging, ambient lighting, connected tech features and much more.
When we talk SUV, we talk power. To the front of this elegant machine, you get to pick between two engines – 1.0-litre and a 1.5-litre TSI guzzler. The former, further lets you choose between a six-speed manual or 6-speed torque-converter gearbox. You’ll be receiving 115-horsepower and 175-Nm of torque from this setting. The latter gives you the option of a seven-speed gear box. Expect about 150-horsepower and 250-Nm of torque.
The 2021 Skoda Kushaq SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
