Turn your car into a world-class custom at these 5 auto modification studios

Looking for an aftermarket tuning brand that provides car owners the much-needed supercharge they crave? From a racing stripe on your hood to a power-tune for your guzzler, the new-age Indian motoring cult is no slouch in matters of auto modification and cosmetic enhancement. It’s a premise that’s gaining popularity by the day as more motoring enthusiasts step out of their comfort zone to create their own bespoke flare. It’s no longer seen as an underground movement that could be challenging the stamp of authenticity. While most car-makers come with an in-house division dedicated to pimping out your car, there are tons of creative auto customization studios in India from across India that are revered for their skills in motor tuning and pristine bodywork.

A disclaimer though. After the Supreme Court’s judgement of banning modifications in India, auto enthusiasts came forward to highlight certain hidden details of the act, that could still allow customization within these limits that could still work for Indian motoring. There is of course, a fine line between what can and can’t work for the street. But for all things that can work, here’s how you can create world class custom works with the best auto customization studios in India.

If you’re looking for clean cosmetic detailing, this is the auto house for your car. Auto Customs offer just one service but they’re the best in the market for it. They offer wrap services and exterior detailing which includes finishes, custom paint-jobs and headlight detailing as well. Based in Mumbai, Auto Customs deals with high end luxe rides, performance cars as well as bikes. Their work may seem very minimal at first, but they focus on creating clean and simple silhouettes that actually make bold impressions, that’s a a lot for a simple paint-job to do.

If you’ve ever watched MTV’s Pimp My Ride, this auto customization house is as close as it gets to reality. Being our favorite from the list, EMT does it all – mods, concept cars and lavish interior makeovers. In recent events, they even recreated the Batmobile from Tim Burton’s 1992 Batman movie series. From detailing to plush fabrics to innovative design, ETM is dedicated towards turning your wildest automotive dreams into reality. Executive Modcar Trendz is currently based in Mumbai.

Exclusively for bikers, Vardenchi is a harpoon for riders who consistently aim to improve their ride in terms of design and silhouettes. Being the newest on this list and based in Mumbai, Vardenchi is being spearheaded by Akshai Varde, who recently launched his new lifestyle garage in Mumbai. His gear shed is a store for imported parts, customization and in a certain sense, a church for vintage riders. If you’d like to take it a step further, Vardenchi also does biking gear customization.

Be it redesigning, building, restoring or getting a slick body kit, this Mumbai-based car builder took their skills all the way to Gumball 3000. “Taking the nation by torque” this is India’s largest auto customization studio that deals with nearly every brand of car this market has to offer. Our favorite picks from their fleet would be their Audi RS7 and the BMW M4, but if you’re into a sportier body kit, check out the Porsche duo up-top.

Instead of performance tuning and sporty body-kits, the house of DC Design focuses on more artistic design and interior luxe treatments. If you have a concept in mind, this would be the best garage to bring it to life. Based in Mumbai, DC Design is now in Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai too. They also have an expertise in pimping out luxury motor homes and building minicar concepts from scratch.
