‘Made In India’ is currently the biggest tech verve in the country. On that stride, we get a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 4G, their first-ever homegrown smartwatch.

Big news from the House of Galaxy today: Every smartwatch on the shelf will now be made in India and it starts with the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 4G. As the brand already has the most diverse range of 4G smartwatches in the country, the new Active 2 will be a part of the ‘Aluminium edition’. There’s a serious tilt towards fitness with this watch, but it still remains an excellent tool to stay connected to your smartphone even while it stays in your pocket or at home. As these smartwatches garner a homegrown appeal, could we soon expect the Galaxy S to follow the same too?

The watch will be available in sizes of 42-mm, 44-mm, and 46-mm and will boast two unique design templates – First, an elegant classic take of the Watch 4G and second, a modern minimalist approach of the Watch Active2. In terms of its display, the new Watch Active2 4G will boast a 1.4-inch 360 x 360, fully AMOLED Display with Corning Gorilla Glass DX+. Underneath the hood, it runs on a Tizen operating system that’s backed by 1.5-GB of RAM and 4-GB  of built-in storage. All of this runs on a 340-mAh battery.

“The Aluminium edition of Galaxy Watch Active2 4G is our most affordable 4G watch now. It’s also the first smartwatch to be made in India. With Galaxy Watch Active2 4G, we have also started manufacturing our entire range of 18 smartwatches in India as part of ‘Make for India’ program,” stated Mohandeep Singh, senior vice president, Mobile Business, Samsung India.

In terms of colours, you have options of Cloud Silver, Aqua Black, and Pink Gold. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 is currently priced at Rs. 28,490 and will be available for retail starting July 11th at select retail stores, Samsung Opera House, Samsung.com and leading online portals.
