We’re bang in the middle of a mighty smartphone revolution, and that means every other month there’s a new phone focusing on triple-lenses, night modes, and even 5G tech in the making, alongside creating a seamless user experience backed by dynamic performance. We think of the ideal smartphone as one that provides us with entertainment, rich digital assistance, and most importantly, has smart privacy. Imbuing all this in its latest phone are the Chinese tech titans One Plus, who unveiled their flagship, the OnePlus 7 Pro, yesterday. We dissected the piece, and it’s safe to say that while OnePlus has definitely raised the bar on quite a few smartphone aspects, there are also compromises that have got in the way of this.
The extended edge-to-edge display seems to have a slightly larger chin than a forehead, a lightning-quick Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 855, a 10-layer liquid cooling system, and a motor-operated pop-up front camera.
The most anticipated feature of the 7 Pro is the pop-up front camera. Using a motor, a tiny-yet-efficient 16-MP camera slides up, allowing the device to have more screen space. The downside here is that this actually may be a problem for Face Unlock – several users have had problems – prompting a backtrack to using Touch ID instead. All in all, the action isn’t perfectly seamless.
In terms of camera, the vertical triple-lens setup boasts a 48-MP primary camera with a 3x zoom feature, an 8-MP telephoto lens and a 16-MP lens, something shutterbugs will love. Moving to its design, the Nebula Blue would definitely be the favourite choice as it creates a unique prism-like sandblasted matte finish, undeniably a spec from the premium flagship territory.
The display creates quite the appeal too.A 6.67-inch 2K+OLED, HDR10+ Dynamic immersed screen that offers Night Mode for safe midnight entertainment and reading. The 7 Pro’ RAM goes up to 12 GB and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon™855, the best we’ve seen so far. All of this is powered by a 4000 mAh that offers Warp Charge 30 Fast Charging. That’s a 20-min plug-in time and you’re powered for the entire day.
There are OnePlus 7 Pro happening across selected cities in India where you can pre-book this model. Tomorrow, the Mirror Gray variant will be up for retail at ₹52,999 , while the top-shelf 12-GB 256-GB Nebula Blue edition will be available in India only towards the end of this month with a price-tag of ₹57,999. All OnePlus 7 Pro models will be sold exclusively at Amazon India
