We’re currently in an era where watchmakers and international luxury houses are indulging in unorthodox materials and fabrics as a new statement in luxury. The latest fare comes from our favourite fashion house, Louis Vuitton, with quilted leather on their New Wave watch. Extremely chic and very millennial-friendly, the recently unveiled three-piece ultra-luxe Louis Vuitton Tambour New Wave watches keeps up with the leather accents, a trend we’ve seen throughout the larger New Wave collection from the label. The maison’s legendary “V” for Vuitton has been embossed which stands as a watermark for young, inspiring individuals who admire technical craftsmanship and everyday luxury accents.
Earlier in January, they launched the Tambour Horizon women’s smartwatch which allowed you to personalize the watch-face. However, we’re seeing a completely different aesthetic with the Louis Vuitton Tambour New Wave Watch now. As an unconventional watch trait, the dial makers at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton set out to visually recreate the softness of leather on the delicate dial, the first we’ve seen by an international luxury house. The last time we came across a leather dial, it was a Hublot & Berluti collaboration back in May.
The capsule comes with three variants – Tambour New Wave watch, Tambour New Wave paved watch and the Tambour New Wave chronograph watch. All three watches run Quartz and are cased out of stainless steel. The first variant features a rainbow colour palette with interchangeable straps, which appeals to a more youthful Louis Vuitton wearer. The second, comes with diamond fixtures at both strap helms and the third timepiece, boasts a chronograph and a day-date subdial. The second and third variants are perfect for sophisticated women, who have a taste for diamonds and elegant watchmaking. The emblematic monogram flowers on the minute circle give out a chic vibe while the interchangeable strap system can customise the strap from shiny to understated to sporty rubber and precious alligator.
