Chanel recently opened doors to its swanky new boutique at The Chanakya in New Delhi. The space is located in the heart of Lutyens’ Delhi district. This 315 square-metre boutique designed by New York based architect Peter Marino is an interpretation of the House’s aesthetic codes and perfectly embodies the Parisian elegance and the timeless modernity.
Inspired by Mademoiselle Chanel’s Parisian apartment on 31 rue Cambon in Paris features Chanel’s signature tweed furnishings, the emblematic color palette of black and white, contrasting material of soft gold metal and bronze. Soft accents of pinks and blues come together to give the well-lit space an intimate atmosphere.
From classic Chanel watches, eye wear, bags to fragrances and beauty products, the space houses everything signature to the brand. The ground floor is a wide open space, decorated with white textured walls and displays leather goods, handbags. The classic Chanel watches that are lined up include Première, J12, BOY.FRIEND and Code Coco. Along with it there is a space devoted to Fragrance & Beauty products.
On making your way upstairs one finds themselves in a cosy, salon like setting with bespoke carpets made in natural materials to add more character to the space. Custom designed sofas, slipper chairs, gilded glass and black lacquered tables add to the inviting ambiance. On display are Ready-to-Wear collections and shoes.
Chanel’s commitment to art manifests through artworks such as an abstract photograph of a camellia by Shelter Serra – a nod to Gabrielle Chanel’s favorite flower – and a pair of lithographs by Agnes Martin, which find space in the intimate trial rooms.
