How K-pop stars are taking over the fashion industry as brand ambassadors

Forget about taking over the world by storm with their music, K-pop stars are now taking over fashion as luxury brand ambassadors, and we can’t get enough of them. From Louis Vuitton naming BTS as its global brand ambassador to fan-favourite girl-group Blackpink collaborating with legendary brands like Bvlgari and Dior, Korean idols are on their way to global supremacy, and fashion is no exception. Here is a list of K-pop stars who have fronted high-end fashion brands.

BTS has long had a relationship with fashion giant LVMH. Kim Jones, Dior Homme Creative Director, created special stage costumes for the band’s Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour in 2019. BTS was named the new face of Louis Vuitton in 2021. In 2023, BTS member Jimin reunites with Jones and Dior once more, this time as the label’s global brand ambassador. His top priority? Attending the Dior Men winter 2023/2024 show at Paris Fashion Week.

Louis Vuitton has named Chinese Canadian pop artist Jackson Wang as its brand ambassador, making him one of the company’s most visible Chinese ambassadors. “The Maison is pleased to announce that the world-renowned singer will be joining as new house ambassador,” Louis Vuitton announced in an official Instagram post. The GOT7 actor was named the luxury fashion house’s latest brand ambassador shortly after Wang appeared at the Louis Vuitton Fall 2023 menswear show.

With celebrity multi-hyphenates like Justin Bieber and Beyoncé conquering the realms of music and fashion, clothing brands have become a must-have symbol of pop dominance. Jackson Wang followed suit, launching his own line. He is the founder and creative director of TEAM WANG design, a luxury streetwear label. Wang’s premium collection boasts minimal designs and a feel-good vibe.

BIGBANG’s Taeyang for Givenchy

Taeyang has amassed a slew of titles since breaking into the Korean entertainment industry, including singer-songwriter, member of boy band BIGBANG, husband to actress Min Hyorin, and, most recently, first-time parent. Taeyang makes his triumphant comeback to the spotlight this year with two major announcements: a collaboration with BTS member Jimin and his appointment as Givenchy’s newest global ambassador.

Louis Vuitton recently appointed BTS as its new brand ambassador. The boyband donned Louis Vuitton outfits at the 2021 Grammy Awards, as well as making their first runway appearance in Louis Vuitton’s virtual fashion film for its Fall/Winter 2021 menswear line, making this one of the year’s most iconic global collaborations.
