The COVID-19 crisis doesn’t seem to have deterred leading international brands from eyeing the Indian market. The latest one to hit our shores is the Barcelona-headquartered label Desigual. With stores in DLF Avenue, Saket, New Delhi, and Vegas Mall, Dwarka, the label is offering a superb end of season sale, the perfect opportunity for you to try the brand.
Known for its medley of beautiful prints, spectrum of striking hues, and eye-catching signature patchwork, Desigual is one of the more vibrant brands to come out of Spain. Founded by Swiss businessman Thomas Meyer in 1984, the label encapsulates womenswear, menswear, kidswear, sportswear, accessories, and shoes. With more than 500 stores and offices, and almost 3,700 employees, the brand is present in 92 countries.
And if you haven’t experienced the brand in the past, here is a perfect chance. Currently offering a spectacular end of season sale, you can choose from a wide range of tops, T-shirts, jeans, dresses, bags, and more, which are at upto 50% discount.
1983, Meyer started Desigual by creating a denim jacket featuring Mickey Mouse after he obtained a license from Disney — this was the first product to define Desigual’s DNA. Opening the first store in Ibiza in 1986, over the years the brand has stood out by giving simple prints and patterns an interesting twist, sometimes even including hints of Gaudi’s art in it. Case in point being their 1999 two-colour stripes, which featured on their colourful check shirts knit dresses. Another signature was rolled out in 2008, when Desigual launched its Berta dress featuring a popping clash of prints and patterns.
Besides this, the brand has time and again collaborated with couturier Christian Lacroix to create a range of beautiful dresses, skirts, and shirts. In 2011, Cirque du Soleil collaborated with the brand on a 60-piece collection comprising T-shirts, dresses, short-dresses, handbags, totes, and jackets.
At the core of the brand is its ideology ‘to dress people, not bodies’, which manifests via an array of colours (individuality is a cornerstone, and their reversible logo is a testament). From exquisite striped skirts and asymmetrical shirts in bold hues to trousers featuring intense prints, if you are on a lookout for something edgy, Desigual’s repository is brimming with options. It’s an ethos that extends to its footwear as well. From their patchwork ankle-length boots to sneakers and running shoes, cool and quirky seems to define the the brand. With winter here, their colourful range of knitwear and reversible hoodies will leave you wanting for more. And if you are a fitness fanatic, just turn to their range of leggings, joggers, and sweats.
Desigual has been brought to India by the Tablez Retail Group, the organised brand retail arm of the Abu Dhabi- based Lulu Group International. While the flagship outlet is in Saket, the second one has opened at Vegas Mall, Dwarka, Delhi. The brand is available online on Myntra.
