Etro x Tom & Jerry CNY limited-edition shirt

The Chinese Year of the Rat is almost here, and this year brands are really bringing their A game with their CNY capsules, many of which have drawn inspiration from some of the most popular mouse cartoon characters we’re all too familiar with: Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and also Jerry from Tom & Jerry.

While I love them all, I’m particularly drawn to Etro’s limited collection featuring the mischievous Jerry — the adorable cartoon character giving life to Etro’s signature paisley prints. My favourite is definitely the Jerry white shirt (HK$4,100), that comes with drop-shoulder sleeves for a more effortless elegant flair. Not only can you see Jerry printed in the front, there is also a small ‘Etro’ printed in a red, cartoony Script font at the upper back, giving just the right amount of cuteness to the effortless classic. The shirt, along with the rest of the capsule collection, are now available in limited quantity at select Etro boutiques around the world (including Hong Kong’s ifc store) and etro.com.

Chanel Les Beiges Eau de Teint

Rather than being known for making foundations, Chanel’s known for its glow. It’s been gradually getting better at it, too, with every iteration of cushion it makes — you know, to fake that kind of frustratingly good ‘I just woke up, but I have flawless youthful skin that doesn’t need makeup to cover imperfections’ kind of glow.

Investigating the new Chanel Beauty Studio store at Fashion Walk and perusing its new ‘makeup buffet table’ concept, I swiped on one of its recent creations, the Les Beiges Eau de Teint tinted moisturiser (HK$575). To my shocked delight, it melted into the skin to revive my parched, sleep-deprived skin, while the little drops of foundation blended impeccably for a dewy, baby’s-bottom-smooth finish. It felt weightless too, and more like you’re buffing on skincare than a layer of makeup. I’m keeping myself disciplined, though — once I finish my glow cushion(s) at home, this one’s next on the list. —Evelyn Lok, Associate Editor

Johnstons of Elgin cashmere scarf

There are few accessories in a man’s life which are as satisfying (and indeed useful) to own as a hi-quality scarf. For over two centuries, Johnstons of Elgin has produced some of the finest examples in the medium (they’re the last remaining Scottish manufacturer capable of making knit/woven accessories entirely in-house). Accessories like this cashmere scarf (HK$2,500) may appear unremarkable at a distance, but the process that’s used to transform raw Mongolian fibres into a finished product imbues it with unparalleled warmth, softness, and density. I particularly love the burnt ‘orange’ of this colourway: closer in tone to camel, it goes devilishly well with knitwear and a great big overcoat. —Randy Lai, Watches Editor
