Hoops in all shapes, sizes, and textures are having a major moment. While the Carolina Herrera and Dolce & Gabbana runways saw simplistic gold hoops, Prabal Gurung and Versace presented their iterations of multiple hoops. Textural interplay was major at Missoni and Marni with their oversized enamel-coated hoops. Also, in India, Bollywood’s fashion fixtures such as Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor embraced the trend effortlessly.

Chains links have become the most coveted pieces for summer. While at Chloé, we saw exquisite chain chokers made in gold and silver, at Tory Burch, the designer rolled out more feminine pieces as layered necklaces. At Gucci too, chain links were seen in the form of eyewear chains in a spectrum of hues. Designer to the stars, Brandon Maxwell also experimented with chain links and showcased colourful, multi-textural neckpieces and earrings.

Think of pearls and a clean, minimalistic image appears. But leave it to Bollywood celebs to infuse the idea with a bit of drama. This season we saw a number of dramatic versions of pearls; the beautiful pearl ear-cuffs at Prabal Gurung, mismatched pearl danglers at Jason Wu, a spectrum of coloured pearls at Oscar De La Renta. However, among all these, we could not help but notice the way Sonam Kapoor endorsed the trend. Her Bulgari high jewellery pearls were everything.

From Bulgari’s serpenti motifs, Cartier’s panther to multiple bird-inspired motifs in Indian jewellery, wildlife has shown up in our jewellery drawer via a number of frames. Once again, designers are revisiting the idea. In Milan, Dolce & Gabbana showcased pieces featuring cheetah and leopard motifs, Oscar De La Renta bugs reigned supreme via exquisite cuffs and a variety of earrings inspired by honey bees.

Jewellery trends for summer are all about exploring the idea of alternative materials. While at Lanvin, we saw earrings and cuffs featuring ribbons, Marc Jacobs used raw fabric to create interesting neckpieces. At Giambattista Valli, the ace couturier created an interplay of fabrics and raw gemstones in his necklaces. Prada and Balenciaga took their material obsession to new heights with their seashell-featured earrings, necklaces, and rings.
