If you love the Japanese label Uniqlo and have stocked up on it on your travels, you’ll love what we have to say. Last month, we had announced that Uniqlo was launching in India, and yesterday we got an in-depth look at everything that will be in its stores come October.
Lifewear is Uniqlo’s version of ready-to-wear suitable for everyday life. Focusing on the highest levels of quality, functionality, and affordability, their range will include signature puffer jackets, parkas, denim, and a wide variety of knitwear (look for the 3D knit pieces in 100 percent cotton for women) and linen shirts – essentially the basics of every wardrobe. The highlight, however, is the exclusive line by Christophe Lemaire, comprising winter-appropriate woollen sweaters, quilted bombers, sweats, chequered coats, and biker jackets. We also loved the range of colourful puffer jackets in hot pink, wine, and beige. Another plus: Their ‘Airism’ range of innerwear for men and for women.
Overall, the full range of LifeWear will be available for men, women, kids, and babies, including the highly popular line of Uniqlo T-shirts. The range starts at Rs 1,500 (approx.), going up to Rs 10,000 (approx).
The launch in October will see not one but three stores in Delhi, starting with Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj (spread over 35,000 sq ft), and next at DLF Place, Saket, and DLF CyberHub, Gurugram.
“We are committed to the Indian market and are very excited to be launching our first three stores in Delhi, a region that embraces diversity and culture, from art and design to craftmanship and fashion,” said Tadashi Yanai, Uniqlo’s founder and chairman, and president & CEO, Fast Retailing. “The opening of our first store, followed by a second and third store a little later, represents a significant step in our company’s global strategy. We look forward to offering our high-quality, affordable LifeWear apparel to the people of India,” he added.
