After designing Bentley’s iconic onboard clock for their flagship model, the Continental GT, back in 2003, Breitling has take their collaborative endeavour further with a new watch, the Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Bentley British Racing Green. The timepiece marks not just a deeper association between two legendary brands and their decade-long partnership, but is also a precursor to the centenary celebrations of Bentley next year.
The Premier B01 Chronograph is striking a first sight – with a racing green colourway on its dial and strap, which watch wouldn’t be? Featuring Breitling’s in-house Manufacture Caliber 01, and a dual-acting ball-bearing rotor, the open sapphire glass caseback puts the entire mechanism on display. The automatic movement’s power reserve can run for over 70 hours after inactivity, which is well above most timepieces in its class. One of its key features: The chronograph flexes a ratchet wheel control that runs 30-minute and 12-hour counters. The timepiece also features a date window at 6 o’clock.
On the opposite end of its crown, Bentley has its textual logo engraved on the outer case, which makes for an interesting detail. All of this bolted on with Breitling’s premium green leather straps to match its dial (the capsule also features a gun metal strap option for those who prefer a chunkier version). The new timepiece is a striking change from 2003’s LeMan Schweiz, which marks Bentley and Breitling’s first-ever collaboration. While the B01 embraces simple elegance and a leather finish, the LeMan Schweiz thrives on intricate detailing, trademark Chorographical Breitling dials and gun-metal straps.
“Bentley and Breitling share so many values. Both companies are known for quality, performance, and design excellence, and both can build on powerful historical legacies,” said Georges Kern, CEO, Breitling about the extended partnership. “It’s an ideal partnership, and after more than 15 years, it is a pleasure to add another chapter to it.”
