Bentley and Breitling come with a certain kind of synergy as luxury partners. They also mark the longest collaboration between a watch manufacturer and an automobile brand till date. This week, Bentley completed a hundred years of automotive heritage and unveiled a limited edition Continental GT at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show to commemorate the special occasion. Breitling celebrated the same by debuting a second Premier Bentley Centenary Limited Edition. This limited-edition capsule embraces cross-cultural aesthetics and the best from both brands, making it a perfect purchase for true admirers of both.
Breitling’s centenary edition for Bentley comes in two standard variants – a stainless steel case and an 18K red gold case – and an exclusive white gold model. It shares a similar design and visual aesthetics with Breitling’s B01 chronograph, with a different colourway. The elegant and unique wooden brown burl elm dial with black subdials is a noteworthy addition.
The dial also boasts a chronograph minute counter at 3 o’clock and a small, seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. The contrasting subdials indicate that the watches are powered by Breitling’s flagship Manufacture Caliber 01. While self-winding, this timepiece also offers upto 70 hours of power reserve, which is an admirable trait.
On its caseback, the movement is visible thanks to its skeletal design and features a Bentley logo. The 18K red gold version is engraved with a ‘One of 200’ inscription while the steel version is inscribed with ‘One of 1000’, a confirmation of the edition sizes. On the left side of the 42 mm steel case is a plate with an engraved ‘Bentley’ inscription, which owes its inspiration to the dashboard of the historic supercharged 1929 ‘Blower’ Bentley.
Bentley hasn’t made an official comment on when the timepiece will be available for retail but has been priced at US $28,000.
