Swiss watchmaking connoisseurs Hublot and prime-time reggaeton vocalist, Nicky Jam have united over a unique collaborative three-watch masterpiece called the Hublot Big Bang Meca 10-Nicky Jam, which was unveiled at the recently concluded Art Basel, Miami. After collaborating with Bayern Munich’s James Rodriguez last season, Hublot shift towards music comes via urban reggaeton, and celebrate its artistic culture and passion for fusion, according to Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.
The three-piece capsule includes the Nicky Jam Ceramic, Nicky Jam King Gold and finally the Nicky Jam King Gold High Jewellery (studded with 307 baguette diamonds no less). Each timepiece bears Nicky Jam’s initials at 12 o’clock while having the overall capsule themed in rose gold to suit his preference.

Bearing Hublot’s iconic black ceramic case, the King Gold features a manual-winding HUB1201 calibre that’s elegantly displayed through the watch’s skeletal movement. With ‘NJ’ at 12 o’clock, the dial flaunts 52 orange sapphires, 58 yellow sapphires and 23 green sapphires, while presiding over a gold-plate treatment. A limited edition of 30 pieces, the watch runs on a 10-day power reserve and has red, yellow, orange and black ombre-themed alligator leather strap.

The second, the ceramic version, is adorned with a warm colour dear to Nicky Jam’s heart: Gold. The case, bezel and crown are machined out of ‘King Gold’ essentially an alloy of gold, copper and platinum developed at Hublot’s production unit. Unclear. The micro-blasted black ceramic case is bolted on by Hublot’s iconic 6 ‘H’ shaped screws. While working on the same HUB1201 calibre, the dial embraces its skeletal design with white-luminescent hands. Keeping up with the reggaeton influence, the strap bears the four Raasta colours: red, yellow, green and black. Limited to 100 crafts.

More like the king’s ransom from the Big Bang capsule, the Nicky Jam King Gold High Jewellery features a 18K polished gold-plated dial that’s enriched with 31 baguette diamonds and another 60 on its case. The standard anti-reflective sapphire glass works with this piece as well. But that’s not all: The King Gold set is said to carry 367 baguette diamonds in and out the piece in total how?. The strap flexes Black Alcantara in Raasta colours in a vibrant ombre fashion. There hasn’t been an official count as to how many pieces Hublot will manufacture for this, but we should expect a count of 15-30 timepieces made on special order.
