For Valentine’s Day this year, Airbnb has teamed up with the museum Casa di Giulietta, the historic house of Juliet in Verona, famous for its role in the story of the star-crossed lovers from the Shakespearean play. A lucky couple will have the opportunity to sleep on site and enjoy a romantic dinner prepared by two-Michelin-star chef Giancarlo Perbellini on February 14.
Every year, the Casa di Giulietta in Verona welcomes thousands of visitors, who come to take photos under the balcony of Juliet and gaze upon the statue that represents the Shakespearean character. It’s a pilgrimage that many believe will bring them luck in love. This Valentine’s Day, the Casa di Giulietta will host one lucky pair of lovers who will get a private tour of the spot once the official closing hours of the site have chased away the regular crowds.
Along with an Italian architect, Airbnb has transformed the 14th century townhouse into a romantic and luxuriant setting that includes the original bed of the two lovers used in Zeffirelli’s classic 1968 ‘Romeo and Juliet’ film adaptation. This represents the first time that the structure has been used as accommodation since the 1930s. In addition to being waited on by a personal butler, the pair will also be able to read some of the many love letters sent to Juliet by fans from around the world.
The lucky couple will be treated to a sumptuous feast in a lavishly outfitted dining room. The guests will even be able to observe Verona-based two-Michelin-star chef Giancarlo Perbellini in the kitchen while he concocts their special feast.
In order to have a chance to win this romantic experience, applicants must write a letter to Juliet that expresses their own touching love story and explains why they would be most deserving of such a romantic evening. Entries can be submitted at airbnb.com/juliet until February 2, 2020 11:59 pm EST.
