If you are one for adventure and fun activities, Resorts World™ Sentosa Singapore should be on your must-visit list. One of the most popular lifestyle destinations featuring world class attractions, including Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park, one of the world’s largest aquariums, a maritime museum and a water park, Resorts World Sentosa is guaranteed to cater to every age group and preference.
Amongst its main attractions is Universal Studios Singapore. It’s a world of firsts here – the first Far Far Away castle from the world of Shrek; the first Madagascar theme park ride; the first Puss In Boots themed roller coaster; and the first TRANSFORMERS attraction, to name a few.
The most recent addition to the park is the Universal After Hours programme, which is included with regular day admission to the theme park. With visiting hours extended on the weekends – till 10:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as select public holidays – you can enjoy the adrenaline-filled rides longer, along with a host of new nighttime activities.
Our top pick is the Hollywood Dreams Light-Up Parade – where a cast of over 100 performers fill the streets on 12 decorative floats, all adorned with neon lights and LED magic. Starting at 7:30pm and winding through different zones of the park, one can join in the fun as characters from movies such as Madagascar, Jurassic Park, and Revenge of the Mummy come alive.
Another new showcase is the Rhythm Truck. Hum and dance along as the spirited street entertainment performs with live percussion, vocal looping and infectious crowd interaction. There is also the mesmerising fireworks display at 10:00pm on Saturdays (and select Friday nights) at the Hollywood Lagoon, synced perfectly to music. Go one step further and make it even more fun: Get your face painted with glow-in-the-dark paints or pack on the glowing accessories available for purchase.
You are bound to be famished after a day (and night) packed with these activities, so try al fresco dining along the streets of the New York-themed section, where specially curated pop-up stalls serve the much-in-demand Golden Cheese Potatoes and Popcorn Chicken Cones.
The best part about Universal After Hours is that none of the nighttime activities come at any extra cost – it’s all a part of the admission fee to the theme park. We’d suggest you don’t wait and book your tickets pronto.
