Looking to unwind? Head to the eco-friendly Karma Chalets in Gurgaon

‘A well-kept secret’ is how a guest recently described Karma Chalets. And he was not too far off the mark. Nestled within 300 cares of greenery and fresh air, just 20 mins from Gurgaon and off National Highway 8, Karma Chalets is  a welcome change from the box-like hotels that one usually comes across. With an all-pervading sense of nature and lush foliage everywhere, its meandering path leads to standalone chalets, which in themselves exude calm and tranquility. It is a place that makes you feel like you have come home.

Karma Chalets

Part of the sprawling Karma Lakelands, which also boasts a 9-hole golf course, Karma Chalets’ motto is ‘Relax, Rejuvenate, Rejoice’, and the property allows guests to do that perfectly. Hammocks, lounge chairs, and quaint sit-outs dot the large open space, from where you can spot birds, rabbits, the Indian Fox, and antelopes aplenty. If you are lucky, you might even see a family of porcupines making their way home at night.

The six chalets have all been done differently, so each visit here is bound to throw up a new sensorial experience while providing guests with the same calming ambiance. Each wallpaper, photo frame, bed throw has been chosen painstakingly, so as to make each room unique in its own way.  The use of colours and decor create a sense of cosiness that’s reminiscent of Enid Blyton novels. There are distinct finishes, decals, curtains, cushions, and more. Instead of using paintings, the walls are adorned with photographs taken by the owners on the family’s holidays within India and abroad. At night, the lit-up meandering path leading to the rooms lends the place a magical touch.

Adjoining the chalets is the Café & Kraft Kitchen aptly named, Under the Neem. Vanshika Khurana, daughter of the owners, has designed the interiors, and even painted some of the walls herself.  With the farm-to-plate concept and the produce coming directly from the kitchen garden next door, the menu specially curated by ex-Oberoi Chef Ravitej Nath. Warm, and with ample glass bay windows all looking out onto the green outdoors, the interior and exterior merge into each other seamlessly. Ideal for eating inside on summer days or alfresco on winter afternoons, apart from the cosy nooks for two, there are four special settings that are perfect for special occasions and candle-lit dinners here.

Karma Chalets is the perfect getaway that allows you to indulge in some much-needed downtime. Spend your time playing a game of outdoor chess, croquet, or carrom, or simply sit by one of their windows overlooking the gardens. There is also cycling, golfing, swimming, nature walks, and for children, a park and outdoor adventure obstacles. What better way to recharge?
