The final reception in Mumbai for the #nickyanka wedding just got over and that can only mean one thing – the biggest wedding of the year will now set the trend for how nuptials are celebrated in 2019. From her sangeet and the mehendi playlists, to the decor and the outfits by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla and Sabyasachi, there’s no denying that couples will now hark back to Jonas-Chopra festivities while planning their wedding. If Deepika Padukone went elegant and traditional, Priyanka took things a step further and added an international flair to the celebrations. Here are the looks she sported, which we feel will set the bridal style for 2019.
The mehendi outfit by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla
Neon colours are back, as is heritage jewellery. Priyanka wore a colourful AJSK outfit with a ruby necklace, designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and crafted by Saboo. These rubies were collected over generations by Saboo, and are set in place with polkis in gold, while the iconic peacock is the central motif here. The lehenga on the other hand was a fabulously folksy, multi-hued organdy ensemble, inspired by a vintage AJSK collection. The bright colours and vibrant patterns reflected the spirit of Rajasthan.

The sangeet outfit by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla
Priyanka wore a heavily embellished silver and gold sari by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The jewellery was simple – just a diamond necklace and earrings. The montage video featured the track ‘Deep Into The Wild’ by Honoraries ft. Volunteer.

The Indian wedding outfit by Sabyasachi
Priyanka tied the knot with Nick Jonas in a Hindu function at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in a red lehenga by Sabyasachi, with shoes by Christian Louboutin x Sabyasachi. The lehenga was custom-made, and took 3,720 hours and 110 embroiderers from Kolkata to create. The designs had hand-cut organza flowers, French knots in silk floss, and heavy thread work, with a western-inspired veil. And the names of Nick Jonas and her parents were sewn into the waistband of her skirt in Hindi. Jewellery was uncut diamonds, emeralds, and Japanese cultured pearls set in 22 carat gold by Chopard. The bride also wore Jewellery by Sabyasachi. The necklace was set in 84.5-carats pear-shaped diamonds, set in 18 carat white gold. Earrings were pear-shaped diamonds, and the unique 16-carat oval-shaped maang tikka was a stunner.

The white wedding outfit by Ralph Lauren
Both the bride and groom wore custom Ralph Lauren. It’s important to note that Ralph has only designed three wedding dresses in 50 years – one for his daughter, his daughter-in-law, and his niece. Now, he chose Priyanka Chopra for the fourth one. The white dress was a hand-beaded, hand-embroidered look that had floral and scroll motifs, beautiful scalloped sleeves, and delicate tulle appliqués. It took the designer 1,826 hours to complete and the dreamy outfit was embellished with 2,380,000 mother-of-pearl sequins and came with a 75-foot train. Did you know that a piece of Jonas’ mother’s wedding gown was sewn into the dress? Plus, there were eight special phrases embroidered onto it, including the groom’s name, her parents names, and the date of the wedding.

The Delhi reception outfit by Falguni & Shane Peacock
The bride wore a champagne-hued, frosted nude lehenga by Falguni Shane Peacock this time around. The lehenga featured silver foil work and embellishments, which were set beautifully against champagne tulle. The long-sleeved blouse highlighted the designer duo’s signature beading work, with Swarovski crystals embedded in it. The custom-made lehenga bore motifs of elephants and birds, a reminder and a nod to her Jodhpur wedding. The three-string diamond necklace by Khanna Jewellers addded the finishing touch.

Mumbai press reception by Sabyasachi
The official leg of the wedding festivities took on a fusion look, thanks to Sabyasachi’s tube top and lehenga combo in dark blue. We loved how the bride complemented her signature diamond waterfall necklace with the outfit.
Official Mumbai reception by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla
This one had Priyanka wearing a pastel Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga paired with a full-sleeved lace blouse, a custom tulle spring blossom skirt, and a stole. The skirt was hand embroidered with tiny organza and chiffon flowers encrusted with crystals and bugle beads as accents. The full sleeved lace blouse was embellished with small sequins flowers, crystals, and sequins.
