Known for his exquisite bridal wear with a millennial upgrade and impeccable draping, Tarun Tahiliani lives up to his status of being a pioneer in Indian fashion. Last evening, he rolled out his A/W’20 collection ‘Pieces of you’, featuring 100 vestments. The show is a throwback to a repository of techniques, drapes, and fabrics, which have been painstakingly nurtured for over a quarter of a century.
From concept saris, statement brocade lehengas, exquisite capes, blouses to embellished yet light gowns, once again Tahiliani offered several options to the modern bride. What stands out is his vision to experiment with unorthodox hues; it’s not all about red and gold. There were hints of soothing pastels, blacks, greens, creams, whites, and much more. Among his festive wear, ensembles paid homage to the age-old technique of chikankari and mukaish, with his exquisitely-crafted flared anarkalis.
“The year 2020 has forced us to look inwards. And some of us have embraced that challenge. Hitting the reset button has been nothing but an act of bravery,” says Tarun Tahiliani. “Questions, stories, memories, dreams – so many hidden parts of us are now coming to the fore. So with the onset of the new season, it feels like the only thing to celebrate now is you.”
This was Tarun Tahiliani‘s first-ever digital fashion show, all the ensembles were brought to life in his studio and factory in Gurugram.
