Beauty bandwagon: Honey skin is the latest Korean skincare trend

We first heard about the ‘7 Skin Method‘ earlier this year, where applying seven layers of toner or essence is said to allow your skin to absorb all of the hydration properties from each layer. Then there is the famous 10-step skincare routine which — despite being time-consuming —  has proven to deliver spectacular results.

What these trends have in common is that they all hail from South Korea and are dominating both Asian and Western beauty brands.

South Korea — home to electronic juggernauts like Samsung and K-pop bands has emerged as a powerhouse of sorts when it comes to beauty regimens. Honey skin is just the latest Korean skincare trend to reach this side of the world. Though we first interpreted it for honey skincare products, it’s actually a skin description. “Honey skin” is a term used to describe complexion that is hydrated, plumped and dewy-looking. A quick search on hashtag #꿀피부 (which means honey skin in Korean) on Instagram for instance threw up a whopping 180,000 photos.

Since hydration is key to nailing this skincare trend, we’ve listed down five hydrating products that can amp up your skin’s hydration levels, so it can look fresh, dewy and plump, like how actual honey looks like.
