Beauty bandwagon: How to work yellow eyeshadow into your makeup look

The makeup industry is an ever changing one. For instance, neutral browns are held up as the crowd’s favourite, but there was a time where red and plum eyeshadow palettes dominated the shelves. Now that spring is here and we’ve stocked up plenty on those reds, it’s time for something bold and sunny: yellow eyeshadow.

Yellow eyeshadow may look like a tough shade to apply but in fact, the colour is a neutral shade — it’s just a few hues lighter than browns after all. Social media influencers who posted up similar looks had us wondering if it will work on our Asian skin tone. And thanks to Jenn Im, we’ve got a clear answer.

Simply find one that has a cool undertone: yellow with a tinge of lime or neon yellow with a tinge of blue. If you’re worried about your eye look looking too ‘flat’, add on dimension by applying neutral browns on the outer corner.

Beauty mogul Kylie Jenner is also a part of this surge. Her latest range, Weather Collection, has a noticeable yellow presence throughout the products. We’re confident to say that more brands will soon start to follow.

Let’s start the sunny eye look with these 5 yellow eyeshadow products, shall we?
