More than a few fragrances dropped this month, and we suspect it’s thanks to the coming of autumn. While we are firm believers that perfumes are unisex, there’s no denying that certain smells (and packaging) is more appealing to a certain gender.
But who are we to judge; a woman can wear men’s cologne and vice versa. That said, there are scents we loved this August, ranging from the really masculine colognes to the fresh and floral scents that are quintessentially girly.
These fragrances are all brand new, but some like the Chanel Gabrielle, could reach iconic heights. There are also fragrances housed in a delightful millennial pink hue, such as the Gucci Bloom, Burberry Blush, Prada Infusions de Rose, and Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal.
We’ve also thrown in a unisex fragrance, like the Diptyque Vetyverio that you could share with your other half. The men are not left out either as there are fragrances bound to pull in the opposite sex. Take your pick between the Paco Rabanne Pure XS or the Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo Casual Life.
Should you feel like adding these new smells to your fragrance wardrobe to continue smelling trendy, these are our 10 new scents we loved this August.

Amouage creative director Christopher Chong has always been fascinated by Bhutan, and this fragrance became his interpretation of Bhutan in a bottle. The Figment for Woman opens with peppery accents of Sichuan pepper, saffron, and gardenia. The second rendition of the UOMO Casual Life is a pared down, more relaxed version of the original. The flacon is similar in design to the original UOMO, reinterpreted in cool brushed silver and light blue glass.

Prada Infusion de Rose balances the tight rope of being a feminine scent without coming across as too girly. True, it’s housed in a pink flacon, but the scent is more refreshing and citrusy thanks to the presence of green notes such as neroli, galbanum and mandarin orange.
Jean Paul Gaultier strays from its iconic torso perfume bottle, with its latest fragrance, Scandal. Spritz this on for a night out of scandalous adventures, and you’ll be smelling creamy and earthy. Scandal contains blood orange, honey, patchouli, and gardenia notes — something new and modern compared to the other Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances.
Channelling eroticism, Paco Rabanne announces the comeback of the 1993 Pure XS — bigger and more excessive than ever. Marketed as an aphrodisiac in a bottle, the fragrance has ginger, vegetal sap, thyme, cinnamon, vanilla, leather, and liquor. Warm myrrh is also present in the masculine scent, and everything is encapsulated in a simple but effective black-to-blue ombre glass flacon.
Diptyque pays a second homage to vetiver with the Vetyverio eau de parfum with a good cause; it’s committed to buying certified organic vetiver essence from three villages in Haiti, ensuring the longevity of the supply chain of vetiver in the island. Used as the main notes in the fragrance, the Vetyverio is complemented with grapefruit, patchouli, and Turkish rose. Overall, the fragrance is fresh, smoky, yet subtly floral.

Our final pink perfume of the roundup is My Burberry Blush, a pretty glass bottle with a blush pink gabardine bow which you can personalise with three initials of your choice.
