Whenever there’s an opportunity to save time and luggage-space, we’ll take it. Taking care of skin whilst overseas or on holiday is no easy task. First, your skin has to survive harsh airplane dryness and weather changes. Then, there’s the holiday diet – or lack of a diet, basically, that affects your skin health. Skin health can be restored with the right products, but even then, not everyone has the luggage space to bring everything.

So what does that leave us with? Travel-sized products, sheet masks, and everyone’s new favourite convenience: skincare pads. What are they? These are cotton pads soaked with either serum, cleansing oil, toner, acid for peeling, and sometimes even your entire skincare regimen in one pad. It’s the perfect travel companion as everything is packed neatly in a container. No general liquid also means that there’s no risk of spillage onto your fancy silk panties. You can imagine how fuss-free these nifty products are.

We understand the appeal,  but in a world where everyone’s trying to withhold usage of single-use plastics, this may not be the most environmentally-friendly option out there. Even reusable cotton pads are becoming increasingly popular among consumers. Any single-use products are being replaced and it’s definitely a step forward in helping the environment.

That’s perhaps why we think these skincare pads should only be used (or even better, don’t use them at all) for special occasions. These special occasions may include travelling with extremely limited luggage space or when there’s no access to water or a decent bathroom. Here are five for you to consider, but remember — only for emergencies.
