Retail stores have resumed operations beginning today. This means you can now shop for these new beauty releases for May 2020.
For those who still enjoy the brick and mortar retail experience, you can now rejoice as most business operations have resumed, following the conditional MCO proposed by the Malaysian government effect May 4th 2020. Most beauty retailers have also reopened its stores.
This month, we’re seeing a good range of new products ranging from skincare to makeup, haircare, and also fragrances. Want to try a new hair product from a renowned clean beauty brand? We’ve got you. Need a new lipstick for the working life during the CMCO? There’s something from you. Want to smell good all the time? We have a few ideas.
Below, we’re listing some of the products that we can’t wait for you try — are you as excited as us?
Just like your immune system, it’s vital that you keep your skin strong to protect itself against free radicals, pollution, and signs of ageing. The new Kiehl’s Vital Skin Strengthening Serum is formulated with powerful ingredients to help this cause: a blend of Adaptogenic Herbal Complex and 11kDa Hyaluronic Acid. These two work together to keep molecules that are prone to inflammation and stress in check by strengthening them. The result is strong, resilient, plump, and supple skin that can fight the signs of ageing from free radicals.
Although we may be stuck at home most of the time with no real need to “dress up” and look good, it’s a good self-care routine to continue making yourself feel good. One way is with fragrance, and the new L’erbolario Shades of Dahlia range is a good way to start. The dahlia is Mexico’s national flower and symbolises respect, compassion, dignity, and elegance. For this range, L’erbolario has channelled all these values and also used a sophisticated steam distillation process to create a pleasantly scented aromatic water that’s sweet without being cloying.
The collection includes the Shades of Dahlia Perfume, a Perfumed Body Cream, a Multipurpose Perfumed Flower to perfume your wardrobe or drawers, and a Perfumed Soap.
If it wasn’t enough that UV rays cause pigmentation in our skin, it turns out that blue light radiating from our smartphones and laptops also contribute to the cause. To help ease that, Laneige is releasing its Radian-C Cream which will remove invisible and ultra-fine dark spots, while also protecting skin from blue light damage. If your skin is easily irritated from Vitamin C products, fret not because this product is formulated to be a low-irritation vitamin cream.
Restarting work with the new conditional MCO in place? Celebrate the occasion (or not) with a new lipstick to brighten up your day and pout. Chanel has just released new shades of the Rouge Coco Flash lipstick collection. The range is known for its vibrant colours with a high-shine finish while being absolutely comfortable to wear. These 12 new shades include nudes, oranges, reds, pinks, rosewood, fuchsia, plums, and chocolates. If you’re at a loss on where to start, the brand has several favourites in mind: Ultime (raspberry brownish red), Live (golden rosewood), Bohème (slightly raspberry intense pink), Amour (deep raspberry pink), and Dominant (brick red).
There’s nothing quite like a Californian sunset with its magical hues of pinks, purples, and blues. Capturing that in an essence is the new Louis Vuitton California Dream fragrance. But what does a Californian dream smell like? According to the fashion house, it smells like citrus with warm oriental notes brought out by mandarin, pear, musk, ambrette seed, and benzoin. The fragrance was designed by famed nose Jacques Cavallier, while the sunset bottle was designed by Los Angeles-based artist Alex Israel.
The perfume will be launching in-stores and online on 28 May 2020.
Health tonics are common practice in the Asian culture to revitalise one’s body with natural and herbal remedies. Using this as an inspiration, Belif debuts its True Tincture of Chamomile. Powered with anti-inflammatory effects of the humble chamomile flower, this tincture will help soothe sensitivity and acne while reducing skin’s redness. Other benefits of the tincture include reducing dryness and flakiness, providing intense moisture, and also prevents premature ageing. Use this essence after cleansing skin to help improve the absorbency rate of your following skincare products.
Your favourite trendy clean skincare brand has been branching out into body care, and soon the full hair collection will be available from mid-May onwards. So, what’s clean haircare like? The brand worked with celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan to formulate innovative hair products for every type of hair out there. The result is this collection comprising four products: the Cocomino Glossing Shampoo, Cocomino Marula Cream Conditioner, T.L.C. Happy Scalp Scrub, and Wild Marula Tangle Spray.
The Cocomino Glossing Shampoo is sulfate-free and formulated with coconut surfactants for a creamy and gentle foam that lifts dirt and other impurities. The formula is so gentle that it’s perfect for easily-breakable hair and also coloured hair. Pair that with the Cocomino Marula Cream Conditioner, which is made up of a blend of fragrance-free plant oils and butters to smooth down all hair types. The formula also works to absorb deep into the hair shafts to fortify your hair from within.
For a little TLC session, get the T.L.C. Happy Scalp Scrub that’s supercharged with an AHA/BHA acid blend to break down and dissolve dead skin cells for a rejuvenated scalp. Finally, the Wild Marula Tangle Spray speaks for itself: the lightweight mist works to effectively detangle and smooth hair without weighing it down.
Kosé Sekkisei has updated its sun protection range with a new formula that aims to protect your skin from UV rays gently. At the heart of the improved formula is Job’s tears extract, an iconic ingredient used in Asian medicine. The ingredient is known for its powerful healing effects against dryness and acne, supporting the production of ceramide. Within the formula is its seeds, which have been fermented to boost antioxidant effects. The updated range includes: Sekkisei UV Milk SPF50+/PA++++, Sekkisei UV Gel SPF50+/PA++++, Sekkisei UV Tone Up SPF30+/PA++++, and Sekkisei UV Stick SPF50+/PA++++.
There’s nothing quite like a good clay-based product to really suck out all the impurities from your pores. Dermalogica has just introduced its new Active Clay Cleanser that’s formulated with prebiotics to remove impurities and excess oil from skin without disturbing the skin’s lipid barrier — a situation all too familiar for people with oily skin types. This cleanser won’t dry out your skin, but it will purify your pores and leave skin feeling smooth, refined, and revitalised. We love the addition of prebiotics that protects the skin’s lipid barrier and promote a healthy microbiome.
