Review: Does a 10-minute facial treatment really work?

Yes, you read the title right. Even a regular sheet mask takes 20 minutes; so can a 10-minute facial treatment really work? We went to NOVU Aesthetics to try out their signature treatment and as promised — everything was done within minutes.

Founded by cousins and former investment bankers Nelson and Terence Loh from Singapore, NOVU Aesthetics describes themselves to be the aesthetics centre that is fast, efficient and also friendly on the wallet — which is what everyone expects in today. They’ve recently opened their first service outlet in Malaysia and it is located on the first floor of Parkson in Sunway Pyramid. The secret to their success is not actually something out of ordinary, but their Fasthetics system is indeed an innovative one. All of the treatments go through countless tests and approvals by certified doctors to ensure that everything is guaranteed to be safe, quick and effective.

The treatments available revolve around three main conditions: Colour that compromises freckles, acne marks, uneven skin tone and such, Consistency that is all about enlarged pores, acne and so forth, and lastly, Contour that focuses on wrinkles and saggy skin. A quick skin analysis is done before your treatment. Here, a high-tech machine is used to analyse your skin’s general health which includes hydration level and elasticity. As for us, we got to try their signature treatment, P+ Phyto Laser and on top of that, Radiance Light and NOVU Ion Infusion.

It may be three different treatments but believe us when we say that we were in and out from the outlet in less than half an hour. The P+ Phyto Laser is a non-ablative treatment that lightens the appearance of pigmentation, promotes skin rejuvenation, refines the skin texture and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Radiance Light uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to give the skin a healthier and brighter glow; at the same time deal reduce sebum production. As for the NOVU Ion Infusion, this is the cherry on the cake. Once your skin is all warmed up and sensitised from the initial laser treatment, this will calm it down and infuse beneficial serums into the skin via the Ion Infusion machine.

NOVU Aesthetics also has their own line of skincare products.

A facial treatment that only takes 10 minutes and has immediate results with no downtime — what more can we ask for? You can literally pop in during your lunch breaks and still have time for a proper meal before heading back to work with not only a full tummy but glowy skin — and we can see the immediate effects with just one session.

However, the slight downfall to this is that it is indeed too quick. As compared to other facial treatments that are an hour-long, you won’t be able to fully indulge in it. There are no comforting face and neck massages that many of us thoroughly enjoy and perhaps think is the best part of a facial treatment. Here, you hop-in, skin is lightly cleansed, treated and off you go.

NOVU Aesthetics is not the place for you if you are one that is looking for a treatment that promises a completely relaxing and indulging treatment — but if you are pressed for time and just want fuss-free results, look no further.
