Gallery: Día de los Muertos at Residence of Mexico, Malaysia

Last night, 3 November 2016, we had the great honour and pleasure of joining in the celebration of Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead, with the Mexican Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. The party was held at the Residence of Mexico and saw mostly diplomats and other ambassadors of other countries and their family in attendance.

The wife of H.E. Ambassador Carlos Félix Corona, Mrs. Eun Hai Kim, graciously welcomed guests in her bright and beautiful ensemble for the evening, completed with paper flowers in her hair and half a painted face with a sugar skull design. Our gracious hostess started the evening with an explanation of the cultural celebration, followed by H.E. Ambassador Carlos Félix Corona’s recitation of some fun poems.

Guests were then invited to enjoy a short, moving film on the preciousness of celebrating life, before digging into the delicious food prepared. Of course, the dishes were all traditional Mexican in nature, with the specialty of the evening being the Pan de Muertos, or Bread of the Dead. Have a look at our snaps of the evening and enjoy this little insight on Mexican culture, which might just inspire your next Mexico trip to experience it for yourself.
