9 December 2016 — It was an absolute pleasure and honour for us to collaborate with The Macallan for an exclusive preview evening at REN, an extension of Club Kyo KL that’s slated to open to public on 16 December 2016. The new club is located inside the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur and is accessible via the hotel.

Toasting to The Macallan Fine Oak 12 Years Old and The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, we take a first look at REN. The space is more of a lounge, with cushioned seats lining the walls on either side of the wooden dance floor in the middle. Large paper cranes hang down from the ceiling, with light brown wood bring the main element. The servers wear open-backed kimonos, giving the whole place a cool, Japanese vibe.

We enjoyed The Macallan in several ways. Firstly on its own, of course, as well as in two delicious cocktails. Ginger Mac comprised The Macallan Fine Oak 12 Years Old, ginger ale and a lime wedge while Apples & Spices was made of The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, apple juice, ginger ale and a lime wedge. And just like that, we sipped on exquisite whisky at the newest cool lounge in town and welcomed the weekend. Click through our photos to see REN, and the people who first partied there.
