Renowned cognac house Rémy Martin wrapped up the first Southeast Asia debut of La Maison Rémy Martin (which translates to the House of Rémy Martin) in Kuala Lumpur. The by-invitation-only event held in the beguiling Zebra Square witnessed over 1,500 guests comprising gastronomes, industry players, celebrities, socialites, and brand partners.
Exemplifying the motto “One Life / Live Them”, the six-day event which ran from the 1st until 6th July 2019 — had guests embarking on a money-cannot-buy experience through the four key pillars of the maison: Artistic Direction, Masterclasses, Opulence Revealed and Celebrating Talents.
“The positive and overwhelming response received by our guests justified our decision to host the Southeast Asia debut of La Maison Rémy Martin in KL. We aimed to inspire more guests to identify their inner talents, while also learning to appreciate Rémy Martin cognac,” shares Tyrel Ball, General Manager of Rémy Cointreau Malaysia.
The opening day saw a special tour led by Rémy Martin’s Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau detailing the history of the brand and the cognac-making process. The tour included an interactive projection wall highlighting Rémy Martin’s six core principles, namely wine growing origins; family legacy; choice of Fine Champagne; trust in the power of time and people’s talent; signature style based on harmony; and that the brand is rooted in exception — all of which have been an integral part of the brand since 1724.
Guests were also given the opportunity to sample crafted cocktails concocted by some of Malaysia’s best bars including Omakase + Appreciate, Coley, and Bar Trigona, which recently debuted in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019. Complementing the signature flavours of the award-winning Rémy Martin XO cognac, La Maison Rémy Martin presented a multi-sensorial tasting experience ‘Opulence Revealed’ led by its International Brand Ambassador Gan Chian Mei, who is also a fellow Malaysian. Guests were invited to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the finer points of the XO cognac through an exploration of aromas, flavours and pairing at the sensory table of spices such as cinnamon and saffron, aged parmesan cheese, chocolates, grapes and stone fruit, candied orange, honey, nuts and cakes.

The event also celebrated Rémy Martin’s legacy with Braun Büffel, a brand known for its remarkable German leather craftsmanship and impeccable functionality. Guests also took home personalised artisanal modern leather goods as a little gift for being part of the first La Maison Rémy Martin in Southeast Asia.
