For those of you who took advantage of the long weekend and only began the work week on Wednesday, hallelujah — the short week is already coming to an end. Here in Malaysia, our election fever is at an all-time high as we gear ourselves up for the 14th General Election, set to happen on the 9th of May. That’s just next Wednesday, which also means a mid-week public holiday! More reasons to rejoice.
This week’s best stories entail the hottest news yet for the Malaysian bar scene as two of our bars right here in KL are now standing tall amongst Asia’s 50 Best Bars. We’ve also rounded up some art exhibitions for you to visit around town this month as well as a review of Marina Bay Sands over in Singapore, should you decide to hit up our neighbour for a short weekend trip. Read on to see what went down this week:
Food

A new month means a new list of restaurants and cafes to visit here in KL. One of the new places on our list is Grano Pasta Bar in APW. Opened by the same people behind Proof Pizza + Wine, we’re excited to see (and feast) on the variety of pasta-based dishes here.
Drink

JungleBird and Coley has done the country proud for being two of the best bars in Asia. That’s no easy feat considering they were up against cities from Tokyo to Hong Kong and Singapore. Read more about what went down here.
Style

Cos will be debuting a collection at Pitti Uomo for the very first time, and they’ll be doing it in style. For the brand’s Soma capsule collection, they will collaborate with British choreographer Wayne McGregor for a dance performance at the menswear fashion week.
Beauty

Hankering to update your fragrance collection? There’s no better time to do it than now when a fresh new season starts. We’ve rounded up eight new summer fragrances for you to pick from on this list.
Jewellery

In case you forgot, Mother’s Day is just next Sunday. Luckily for you, we’ve got some gift ideas in the form of this Swarovski Mother’s Day collection. Be sure to make the special woman in your life happy on this day of the year.
Travel

We stayed over at the Marina Bay Sands hotel recently, and we found the resort to be looking pretty swanky despite approaching its eighth year of operation. Read our review of the place to find out how they maintain the hotel’s polished state, and if their famous infinity pool is still Instagrammable.
Culture

Support our local artists and visit these new art exhibitions happening this month — we’ve got five for you. From Ajim Juxta’s fourth solo exhibition to a group exhibition over at Wei-Ling Gallery, we reckon once a week is more than enough to fill your weekend activity list for the month.
