Show some support to these new restaurants and cafes in KL that opened right before or during the MCO.
We thought 2021 would have been a new year with new opportunities (and new cafes to take endless photos in), yet we were slapped with another stay at home order. During this time, several restaurants and cafes have opened its doors to, unfortunately, no one. Luckily though, there’s still takeaway and delivery services available.
While February’s list of new restaurants and cafes in KL isn’t the longest, it’s worth checking out for a new selection of meals and desserts for you to have while stuck at home. There are sandwiches for days where you need a quick bite, as well as heartier options for when you need more calories after that intense workout session you had. Check them all out below.

Normally, you would find cafes like Burrow bustling with people trying to get their fill of sunlight and greens, because indeed, this cafe in Bangsar Shopping Centre checks all those boxes. But during the MCO when dining in isn’t permitted, we’ll comfort ourselves by taking away some pastries instead. It’s one of the few places in town that you’ll be able to find canelés on its menu, alongside other mouthwatering pastries including brownie-cookies, cakes, and more.

Get Baked is one of the many new additions to now-hip neighbourhood Taman Paramount. Previously we explored this cafe in our list of pastries and baked goods you can have delivered to you. While you can’t dine in just yet, have some pastries and bread delivered to you. The cafe also sells its homemade butter, pasta sauce, and Japanese curry sauce — a telling sign of what you can expect when dining in commences. To make an order, just drop Get Baked a direct message on Instagram.

When working from home, sandwiches are the easiest meals to have while zooming in between video calls. Have yours delivered to you by Santouits, a new cafe in Jalan Barat, off Imbi road in KL. The selection of panini is pretty long, including protein options of beef, chicken, eggs, and fish. You can also order some coffee and pastries while you’re at it.

You might remember Wurst from its basement location within MOV Hotel, but the sausage maker has relocated to a new home in Lucky Garden, Bangsar. Its menu is more extensive now, offering a wide variety of meat dishes – beef is the star here – as well as dishes with beef accompaniments including burgers and sandwiches. Trust us — ordering a meal here is going to be a hearty one.

Following the success of De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan, the prolific chef has since opened another restaurant in KL East Mall. While you’ll find fan favourites from the former’s restaurant in Cafe Chef Wan, the menu here is more varied in flavour and inspiration — this is because the chef has curated a menu based on dishes he’s personally tasted throughout his travels around the world. If you wanted to know what the world tastes like according to Chef Wan, pay a visit once the MCO is lifted. In the meantime, you can always order the food via delivery.
