While you prepare your appetite for the avalanche of turkeys come Christmas season, go for a change of taste first with a selection of seafood at these restaurants. The monsoon season may be here, but thank the heavens for air-flown seafood — we can still get our fix of crustaceans and shellfish all year round.
For this edition of In Good Taste, these restaurants dive deep into the sea and fish out new menu additions that will certainly whet your appetite. If you like your seafood fresh, check out Babe’s surreal fresh noodle-shaped amberjack and Shooks pacific oysters — both dishes are absolutely tantalising. But if you like your seafood well cooked and drenched in cheese, we’ve got just the thing for you from Nice Catch. Read on for more details on three delectable dishes you can get from these restaurants.
Kanpachi Noodles by Babe
The dish: The best way to describe this dish is ‘freshness on the plate’. Fresh amberjack is marinated with calamansi for a citrusy taste, and placed atop a dashi-steeped tomato that’s drizzled in basil oil — resulting in a blend of crisp and refreshing flavours. This dish is a part of Babe’s new 12-course Fun Dining menu.
The place: Babe is known for its “Japas” — a combination of the word Japanese and tapas. Michelin-starred chef Jeff Ramsey creates artful modern Japanese tapas dishes with an exquisite mix of flavours, textures and temperatures, so you can expect an unparalleled multi-sensory dining experience here.

Pacific and Tsakaya oysters by Shook!
The dish: Another location with an abundance of fresh seafood is at Shook, which runs a Saturday Night Vibes buffet showcasing tasty offerings such as freshly shucked pacific oyster and Tsakaya oysters. Both fished from the pacific coast of Asia. They have a more clean taste to it, with the right balance of saltiness which tasted fresh from the sea.
The place: Shook is a pioneer restaurant in Feast Village Starhill Gallery at JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur. The restaurant provides an exhilarating dining experience by serving good food along with an ever-changing list of live performances and entertainment. This weekly international buffet that serves signature dishes from selected restaurants in Feast Village: Shook!, Fisherman’s Cove, Luk Yu Tea House, Sentidos Gastrobar – The Latin Grill, and Khushi Spice, is available on Saturdays, from 7.00pm to 10.30pm.
