5 new bars in KL to visit this May 2019
The nightlife scene around Malaysia is an ever growing one. Not only are whisky and gin bars now a thing, sake bars are also steadily making its way back into the limelight. With that said, one of the latest watering holes in this list also comes with a unique list of cocktails, one of which focuses on bubble tea.
All in all, Kuala Lumpur is a haven when it comes to discovering new places to knock back a few cocktails. Located in the small haven for foodies of Plaza Batai lies Circa Bar, the latest speakeasy bar to hit our streets. Thankfully, it lives up to its speakeasy ways with its entrance situated at the back alley between BIG and Yellow Brick Road. Be sure to check out its wide variety of cocktails made by its experienced bartenders. Circa Bar promises that you’ll come for its drinks but stay for the music.
TTDI is known for many things, one of which is being a haven for alcoholics with its many bars located in and around the area. Young Masters is just the latest addition to the foray and with it, a new and distinct type of cocktail. One may have heard of the bubble tea craze that has since taken over our streets and now it has made its way into cocktails. So far, Young Masters has two of its very own bubble tea cocktail creations, both of which feature heavy usage of boba pearls.
Mamacina isn’t exactly new (it has been around for a couple of months) but it still flies under the radar for plenty of people. What was once known as Modern Society has now seen a facelift and Mamacina was born. Much like many bars these days, Mamacina brings plenty of flair into its cocktail menu while still enticing patrons with its beer pong tables. It also exudes a very modern London club vibe with its high ceilings and stylish decor.
The Swimming Club is conveniently located at the very top of the Kuala Lumpur Journal Hotel, giving you a great view of the hustle and bustle of the city. From the get-go, The Swimming Club features a Wes Anderson-isque aesthetic with its neon signs, bright colours, and floral motifs. It also features an infinity pool filled of saltwater, allowing you to take a dip as well while enjoying a great view. Another speakeasy to make its way into the nightlife scene in KL is Brixton 23, located right beneath a bespoke menswear tailoring house. Simply make way through the the real-life tailor shop and head down a discreet staircase and you’ll find the place. Brixton 23 mirrors itself from the tailor found in the Kingsman movies, which will essentially transport you to Savile Row in London.
