During The Bar Awards Kuala Lumpur’s inaugural launch last year, Coley was named Bar of the Year. This year, they’ve done it again, bagging the same award at The Bar Awards Kuala Lumpur 2018. It’s a good year for the bar, as they got into the 46th spot in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2018. Coley’s sister bar, Pahit, also won the Best Specialist Concept category for their focus on gin.

After a full week of guest shifts at bars and various bar-related events, The Bar Awards Kuala Lumpur came to a close last night at its second-ever awards ceremony held in APW, Bangsar. This year is also the first year that The Bar Awards extended to Penang, making last night’s party a big one to celebrate across two states in Malaysia.

The big winner last night was Bar Trigona, who bagged two awards: Best Hotel Bar and Best New Bar. The Four Seasons KL bar was also the top four spots in several other categories, including Best Hospitality Ambassador, Best Hospitality Team, Bartender of the Year, Bar of the Year, and Most Creative Cocktail Program — amazing feat as the bar has only been open for less than half a year. Another noteworthy winner was Caden Chua who won The Rising Star, an award given to young, up-and-coming bartenders in the industry. Chua is currently a bartender in Coley.

The Bar Awards was founded back in 2014 by Tron Young in Singapore and has since extended its influence to four other cities: Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang. According to Young, the whole agenda of The Bar Awards is to: “bring people together to celebrate achievement and excellence within the bar community (and to get a little drunk).” We’re definitely jumping on that bandwagon.
