We first experienced the Mercedes-Benz S400, a conventional hybrid that is known to be the pinnacle of luxury. Followed by the diesel hybrid, the E300 BlueTEC, next it was about the C 350e that was described as a more compact and sportier version of the S400, but now there’s a new locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz car on the road: the E 350 e.
The Mercedes-Benz E 350 e is the complete package of speed, comfort, and luxury. It delivers total system output of 210 kW (286 hp) and a torque of 550 Nm, yet allowing 33 kilometres in all-electric mode and a fuel consumption as low as 2.1l/100 km. To put it in simpler words, it reaches the standard of a sports car yet consumes less fuel than a small, compact-class car.
One of the many features of the Mercedes-Benz E 350 e is the Air Body Control. The wheels’ adaptive damping ensures high quality riding comfort and driving dynamics, no matter the type of road you’re on. The pneumatic all-round self-levelling suspension ensures that the vehicle maintains a constant level, regardless of the weight of the car nor the transmission modes.
“We want to increase the features and specs of the vehicle, to make it a unique, very luxurious, very high value perception vehicle. It’s got Nappa leather, multibeam LED headlamps, a surround sound system with 13 speakers, Widescreen Cockpit with two displays, — all of this gives it a very luxurious appearance and you’ve got that exclusivity and high value perception,” said Mark Raine, Vice President, Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
The E 350 e is available in 2 variants, Exclusive Line and AMG Line, as well as the limited edition E 350 e Edition 60. The Exclusive Line may be a familiar sight to many with the classic Mercedes look, with high-grade Nappa leather interior, Burmester surround system and Widescreen Cockpit. While the AMG Line has a more distinctive and striking design, with 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. Overall, Mercedes-Benz E 350 e has the sportiness of the C 350 e and the luxuriousness of the S400.
You will have infotainment, navigation, and communication shown on the 31.2 cm (12.3-inch) high-resolution media double display. Choose to navigate via the screen or using the Touch Controls on the steering wheel. The Multifunction Telephony is also a new feature. It allows mobile phones to be charged and at the same time, connected to the vehicle’s exterior aerial without needing a cable.
The number of LEDs built into a single headlamp has increased from 24 to 84 — that’s more than thrice the original amount. It’s exceptionally brighter and more precise. Roads are illuminated with previously unsurpassed, precision-controlled distribution of light without disrupting other driver’s sight.
Adding on to the driving and superior listening pleasure, the car is equipped with Burmester surround sound system. There are 13 speakers with a 9channel DSP amplifier and a total system power of 640 watts so you can listen to your favourite hits while you cruise on the road. All the speakers are additionally optimised for performance with the premium sound system.
The new E 350 e also comes with a Parking Pilot and 360° camera. There is the reversing camera plus three additional cameras installed around the car; on the sides and directly in front of the vehicle, to make parking and maneuvering a much easier task. All can be viewed in full HD on the vehicle’s Widescreen Cockpit.
The Pre-Entry Climate Control system allows you to set the desired temperature for the interior of the vehicle before you step in. Easily set your departure time on the media display and the car interior will start cooling down (or warm up if you are in a colder climate), then you will never have to risk sweating upon entering the vehicle.
